My heart sank when I arrived. The reception desk is tucked in a far corner of an imposing reception area and gave the unfortunate impression that staff were standing wedged in a tiny space between 4 bits of black MDF nailed together and the wall.
The bedrooms were something else, though. For once, it seemed that the final design had actually been decided as a result of people spending the night in a mock up room. Everything was in the right place, the design was interesting, and I loved the various interconnections between the bedroom, bathroom and passageway. Plus separate bathroom and toilet, within which a sturdy traditional bidet was a welcome comfort.
I though breakfast was expensive at 15 euros for continental and it would have been good to have complimentary bottled water in the room.
Well away from the Old Town, but the 35 bus boarded 2 minutes walk from the hotel does the job for 1.35 euros. Just pay the driver
Well done to the hotel though. Four stars just because of the reception experience. I felt the staff felt uncomfortable in their little space and this translated to a certain extent to the warmth and ease of their reaction throughout my stay.More
