We arrived to check in at 11:15 AM and the attendant brusquely (no smile, no welcome) told us it is too early and our room would not be ready. After an awkward pause, I asked if we can check our bags and then come back and get our room key: she said fine. After checking, our room was in fact ready (no apologies offered). We asked for a map of the city so we can orient ourselves and one was handed over without any explanation. The porter then took our bags without asking if we needed any assistance and escorted us to our room. In other hotels, you are greeted with a welcoming smile and if you room is not ready, an offer to put your bags in safekeeping, directions to the nearest washroom to freshen up and suggestions as to where we we might grab coffee or lunch until our room is ready. After check-in, a porter might offer assistance with our bags and not just take them. Upon requesting a map, the attendant unfolds it, marks where your hotel is located and provides a quick orientation to the city. This is what good hotels do especially high end ones. This hotel is otherwise what you would expect: wifi and air conditioning work well, the room is well appointed however folks at the reception desk are not very helpful and did not smile anytime we needed to interact with them.

At first we were issued the wrong room. Then after prepaying a premium rate on a tour for this hotel, we got a cave room with no window or access to natural light . It was right next to the gym and I had to ring to ask them to turn down the radio noise in there at 10pm.
Rude unsmiling staff on reception.
There is little sound attenuation so you hear conversations on hallway, people going yo toilet nextdoor etc

Completely unacceptable. Will be asking for refund of money.

We stayed for 4 nights in a classic view with Terrace.
The Terrace overlooked the Main Street with good views and was nice to sit out on.
The Hotel is in a fantastic location to visit all of Granada.
The rooms were comfortable and we enjoyed visiting the bar several times where the staff were friendly especially David who made a great cocktail.

One of the best hotels in Granada, nicely located in the center of the city, it's a great choice for sightseeing in a bustling city and as the guitarist Andres Segovia said: 'a place of dreams.....' Observed that the hotel is quite famous for tourists and locals as well, a busy hotel indeed! Surprisingly, given room was not spacious, not enough space to walk around but the bathroom was big. Negative side about the bathroom is the hot temps starting at 10 am due to the large window bordering the bathtub, it's like a sauna when taking a bath/shower and when one uses the toilet. One positive side of the small room is the the great view from the glass door - the Hotel Alhambra Palace. Downside of the room is the not thoroughly cleaned wooden floor. Proof was the dirty soles of my flip-flop slippers. I always bring clean slippers and surprised that on the first stay in the hotel, my slippers are already full of dirt. Removed the dirts on the floor using masking tape. Head of the cleaning staff should at least check the rooms if these are thoroughly cleaned, esp underneath the furnitures. Staff at the front desk are obliging and accomodating, only wish is to see smiles on their faces, maybe too tired and busy to have a smiling face? Compared to one of the restaurant staffs who have a a big smile on her face (she has long chestnut ponytailed hair, always smiling when I see her). Buffet breakfast was exceptional - one of the best buffet breakfast we ever had!! - from cooked food, to desserts, to fruits, etc. Locationwise, it's centrally situated, walking distance to shopping streets, restaurants, to El Corte Ingles, etc. Overall, we had a wonderful stay in beautiful Granada!

Room tip: High floors and a room with a view of the Hotel Alhambra Palace.

Stayed in the Meliá Granada for a couple of nights on a sightseeing trip last week. It was a lovely hotel in the middle of the old city, close to all attractions. We booked a premium room on the 6th floor which was nice and spacious, alas with a view of the two lifts which was a bit of a disappointment! It was our wedding anniversary and the hotel gave us a free bottle of Champaign along with some small cakes. It was a very pleasant surprise.

The bar was nice with very attentive staff and a nice place to wind down the day. We did not have a meal in the restaurant as we ate out in the lovely, plentiful restaurants within a few minutes walk. The breakfast was lovely, self service and plenty of choice of fruit, hot and cold fare - very nice.

All in all, a lovely hotel that I would recommend to anyone.
