Firstly this is quite a negative review, which does not reflect on the fact that we all had a great holiday. However that was more down to the company than the hotel and area. The staff in this hotel were so miserable they came across as being very unfriendly apart from one guy that was working the bar on our first night there. some managed to force a smile others just didn't bother. Our friends and ourselves had requested sea view rooms next door to each other. I had phoned the hotel several times to request this and also to order a birthday cake as it was one of the party's 50th birthday. I was advised to send an e.mail, which I did. Unfortunately none of the requests were met. Our friends were happy with their room but ours did not have a sea view room unless you stuck your head around the corner of the balcony. It faced on to the main street. When we asked if we could change it we were told to come back in an hour, which we duly did. We took the key to our designated room only to find other peoples belongings lying on the bed and toiletries in the bathroom. The hotel staff had given us a key to someone else's room. They then upgraded us at no extra cost to a room with a sea view and large balcony..The rooms were clean and bright and the bed was huge and comfortable. The room was not sound proof as the hotels official site states. In fact there was an adjoining door to the room next to us. Our neighbour decided to play his guitar one night from 10pm until midnight. Other nights he had sing songs with friends. Both were heard easily. The food is nice but a little repetative. The children's section is tasty but not a huge selection. Food wasn't always roasting hot but there is a microwave in the dining room. The pool outside is very small for the size of the hotel and limited as to how many guests can swim at one time. The roof terrace is lovely with great views but again the pool is quite small. The underground parking is a good idea as there is very little chance of getting parked in the street. We took a drive to Gibraltar. Give yourself plenty of time to get out as the traffic jams were horrendous taking over an hour. Well worth a visit though. We also visited the crocodile park and went up in the cable car at Benalmadena, which again were good fun. Torremollinos was a bit tired but a short drive up the coast took us to Fuengerolla and Marbella both of which were lovely. Would I visit here again probably not but if I ever did I would not stay in the same hotel. Sorry. Lesley and Charlie

Room tip: Definately recommend a proper sea view.

We have just returned from a four night all inclusive break at the Cervantes Hotel in Torremolinos. Weather was awful but we still had a good time. I think a holiday is what you make of it. No good sitting around moaning!

We got a taxi from the airport which cost us 20 Euros. If you catch the train, I think it's about 2 Euros. The trains are excellent and when you arrive in Torremolinos, it's a very short walk to the hotel.

The hotel is in a great spot just off the main shopping street. All areas were spotless and staff were constantly cleaning. The staff are lovely and very helpful. The food was good and I think probably something there for everyone as there was a good choice. The bedrooms are very spacious and also have a fridge. There is a safe in the wardrobe and this costs 3 Euros a day. The bathroom has a hairdryer and complimentary toiletries which is great if you need to travel light.

If I were to go again out of season, I would go Monday to Friday and not over a weekend as there are lots of Hen and Stag parties and because it was all inclusive and raining, needless to say it was very noisy in the bar areas and restaurant. I love to see people having a good time but I must admit, even I found it a bit much sometimes. The staff were really very good with the rowdy ones.

The bar area had a tea and coffee machine and a soft drinks machine. This was all day from 11am. Snacks were also available from here.

There was no entertainment in the hotel until Friday and Saturday night, when a guy called Juan Gonzales played the keyboard and sang. On Friday night he played lots of recognisable songs which was quite good and we noticed that some of the 'locals came into the hotel. This was ok but it turned into the Torremolinos Formation Dance night and they tutted if you walked near them to get onto the floor to dance. This happened again on Saturday but there were even more 'locals' this night and Juan only played Spanish music this time.

All in all we had a lovely short break.

Room tip: Choose a high floor. We had 614/615 and it wasn't too noisy. It also overlooked the sea and side of hotel.

Hotel was very good in clean condition and lovely big rooms had a huge balcony, staff can't do enough for you, beds was hard but complained and they put a mattress topper on which made it sleepable,
Food nothing special but wide range found the kids sections as the best, location is fantastic you can't get any closer to everything. Beach is beautiful and not that far nice walk down but not so nice walking back up and lifts were broke mulligans Irish bar next door fantastic service and must try baileys Irish bar which is just across the main road,
upstairs pool is great too had a couple of rainy days but as its indoors all weathers nice to relax with the rain hitting the roof and also Sauna, wifi is really bad Best thing to do is find near by cafe or pub for it, train is fantastic way to get from town to town!
in all paid for what we got, had a fantastic holiday

At the airport train station touch the ticket machine screen and then select your chosen language. Touch the station you want to go to and the number of passengers, pay and its that easy. We arrived at the hotel after catching the train direct from the airport. You exit the station at the other side of the main square in Torremolinos. As you exit the station turn around and you will see the hotel a couple of hundred yards in front of you across the square. The main entrance is at the front of the hotel but there is a rear entrance next to the statue of the woman riding the bull. I think it cost €3.60 for both of us. we also used the trains to visit Benalmadena and Fuengirola and found it to be cheap, clean and very punctual.

On arrival there was a bit of a mix up with the booking but as we had all the paperwork with us it was sorted quickly.
We had arrived early and the room was not ready but we were given our all inclusive wristbands and went to get some refreshments.
There was a coffee machine to the left of the bar which dispensed very good coffee and a selection of cakes and pastries were on offer. This was at around 11.00am and we went outside on the terrace in the sun and started to relax.

Later we had lunch and then got the key to our room.
The room and all other areas of the hotel was spotlessly clean and the room was decorated in a traditional Spanish style of cream and white with wooden furniture. The bathroom was small but again very clean. The beds were quite hard and the TV was an older design but you dont go on holiday to watch TV all day. i dont think we even switched it on.

The hotel itself is an old building and this shows in places if you look close enough but the main areas were comfortable, clean and modern in design. Both bars had large screen tvs and were smart although only the smaller bar was open for part of the week until more guests arrived then the larger bar was opened up.

Overall the dining aspect of our stay was very good. There were prepared dishes which were usually fish, meat, vegetarian, pasta, paella, as well as freshly cooked meat and fish. There were chefs who would cook pasta to order as well as a stir fry where you chose the ingredients and they cooked it for you. Dont dismiss the kids section as we found some interesting food there too. Salads were plentiful but the prepared salad was always Russian salad. Not a problem but it was the same every time.
In the restaurant you helped yourself to beer or wine or soft drinks with the wine being bottled rather than on tap. Rose was ok but white was better and the beer was good too being San Miguel. Didnt try the red wine as we are not keen on red.

The evening entertainment for the first half of our stay consisted of piped music that was repeated endlessly but when more guests arrived there was a group who played live music for people to dance to and this brought the hotel to life.
Service at the bar was never a problem and all drinks were fine. I did read on another review that the glasses the beer was served in were small and that is the case but it is an all inclusive so just get more as you need to. A bit of walking will burn a few calories!!

What did surprise me was the variety of nationalities staying at the hotel.
There appeared to be people from all over the world which made for a nice atmosphere and a welcome change. We met a family in the lift who looked like they were dressed for winter but they came from Morocco so we can understand the need for thick coats.

I did hear a couple in the lift having a bit of a moan about expecting better food in a 4 star hotel.

As with everything in life you must weigh up what you paid for your holiday and see whether it was good value for money.

This weeks break allowed us to escape from the cold and drizzle back home, eat and drink to our hearts content and visit new places all for the price of a cheap bed and breakfast in the UK.

In my opinion this represents excellent value for money so i am finding it difficult to criticise the hotel.

The weather was a bit mixed in February but we sat on the balcony sunbathing for a couple of afternoons and it was glorious. We went to Benalmadena on the train to look at the flea market but found nothing to buy. On that day it was windy and cold so you would need a coat but as we walked back through the town i noticed a side street leading from the main area and we heard music playing. This lead to a small square with a fountain and a number of small bars with a guy playing a guitar.

There was not a breath of wind and the whole area was a sun trap with people relaxing soaking up the rays. We had a couple of drinks and some tapas at a bar called "cafe bar plaza espania". The food was excellent and please try the "chorizo inferno" it is sure to make you smile and tastes fantastic.

One thing to note. There is a lift not far from the hotel giving easy access down to the promenade avoiding all the steps but this was out of order at the time of our stay. Once on the promenade it is lovely and flat and stretches for miles making walking around a pleasure.

Overall this was a great break and if you can get a good deal i would recommend this hotel as it is central giving access to the upper part of Torremolinos town as well as easy transport links to other resorts.
