After the miserable weather in the UK we were fortunate to arrive in Malaga to the sun. The Mariposa is centrally situated and within easy walking distance of the harbour area, cathedral, castle and shopping centre.
The staff were helpful and polite. We had an executive double on the second floor. Rooms are spacious with comfy chair, good wardrobe space, large tv (no English channels) and large bathroom with good overbath shower. The bed was wonderfully comfortable!
There is no bar or real seating area in the entrance which is a shame and the breakfast area is a little open. We did not stay on a b&b rate so did not have breakfast but it looked good. There are cafes around which serve a variety of breakfasts.
Hotel Mariposa is a great base for a long weekend in sunny Malaga. It’s a great city.

We were unfortunate to get unsettled weather during our four day stay in Malaga in early March. This included a cold and wet day on our visit to Granada. However there are plenty of museums to visit in Malaga so if you visit during the winter months you are never stuck in finding things to do

Room tip: Ask for a quiet room as there is building work in the hotel

Clean, comfortable hotel in excellent location. Special thanks to Sergio who trace my iPad left in a taxi and had it returned to me within 10 minutes of reporting the loss to him.
Very good buffet breakfast hot and cold, attentive waitress replenishing and keeping everything clean and tidy.

Nice little hotel - can be a bit noisy in the evenings as it is on a pedestrian mall so revellers can be heard. Even in the off season, this is a very busy city. Hotel was clean and modern in its fittings and did have indoor parking which really tested ones parking skills - tight spaces hardly describe it. Staff was multilinqual staff. A visit to the Picasso Mseum is worth a trip to Malaga.Like many small hotels, the Mariposa serves breakfast only. Unfortunately the centre of the city is torn up due to construction of a new subway line - this makes navigating into the old area difficult - our GPS didn't have the construction detours in its system but we managed to find the hotel

Dear 922JohnA922,

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your experience at Mariposa Hotel Málaga.

As you well comment, we are located in the center of the city, in a quiet and pedestrian area, which does not mean there can be noise at specific moments.

We regret the inconvenience that it had to arrive at the hotel, normally we recommend our clients that, due to the subway works in the center of the city, contact us to explain how to get there.

Sincerely,

Mariposa Hotel Málaga

Hotel on pedestrian street. The reception, lobby, foyer seating area and breakfast area is all open plan with windows onto the street on 3 sides and a large automatic opening front door. As we exited the taxi at 11.30 we were astounded and horrified to see dozens of tradesmen through the windows all working throughout this area. There was no furniture of any kind and the noise was deafening, drilling, angle grinding, hammering not to mention ladders, cables, tools and large glass panels awaiting installation on the roof. Front door wide open so area was very dusty and chilly.Check in was swift and friendly. Staff apologised for the noise and said work would all be completed in 3 hours. Our room was ready and we found it clean, spacious and noisy. We went straight out and returned at 4.30 pm to relax before evening as we had been up at 4.45 am to get our flight. Workmen still all on site so relaxing was impossible. I went down to reception at 5.45 pm and was told it would soon end and there would be no more work taking place during our stay. Another hour passed before work stopped. On going out in the evening we discovered that the automatic door opening mechanism was not working which meant it had to be pulled/slid open manually. Female receptionists were quick to do this as soon as the lift doors opened however male receptionists were in no hurry to help and each time my husband had to pull the door open both on exiting and entering the hotel. This continued throughout our stay Fri to Mon. A dish of 6 chocolates and a note of apology from the director was placed in our room on the Fri night by way of apology. On Saturday morning we discovered the water in the taps was discoloured. We reported this to reception who said they knew and had already reported to contractor. The water remained brown in colour throughout our stay and no bottled water was offered by the hotel for guests to use to clean their teeth. On Monday morning workmen back at work on the roof at 8.00am, drilling, hammering, angle grinding creating a rooftop garden/patio. In summary we would never have booked this hotel if we had known about the renovations. Malaga itself is fantastic but our whole visit was marred by our experience in the hotel.

Dear Madam,

Unfortunately we already talked with you about all of it, as you expressed yourself several time during your stay,
Expect the works were only during friday and at 19pm you did not have anything else,
You haven´t been disturbed once during the end of the week because no one once working,
And yes we apologised with a note and chocolates offered in your room,
Regarding the door of the entrance unfortunately broke the friday of your arrival and as we also explained to you, the company did not work end of the week as many... But we did our best to always stand up to open it for every guests,
We are sorry that you did not enjoyed the stay, and know that every reason is good enough to ask gratuity.
Nevertheless thank you for expressing yourself once again,
And all the best to mister and you,

Mariposa Hotel Malaga
