During our visit they had the awnings/covers-up which was perfect during the heat of the day, we loved spending time in the pedestinised street, should be more.

This was a great place to mooch around and people watch. There are lots of shops, although many are part of chains rather than individual ones. One downside, when it's wet, it's slippery because of all the wonderful marble which looks great but feels dangerous in the rain. Pop down the side streets too for more quirky shops.

The christmaslights were amazing in the street and made you feel like the street was indoors. Nice shops.

We were looking forward to returning to La Calle Larios after nearly ten years. I remember it was a great place to shop and wander around. We bought a lot of lovely and memorable things then.

However, my recent experience left me disappointing, as some of the shops seem to be taken over by big international brands such as Zara, Desigual, Massimo Dutti, Mango, Swarovski..... You can get these shops everywhere in the world, even in the airport.

These big international brands dominate the high street and drive out the small independent shop owners, who add character and richness to the area.

The reason, I love shopping in Spain, is because of the independent shops, not because they have these international brands.

This was one of the biggest reasons why we picked Malaga as our winter vacation destination: the Christmas lights. Someone said that they are the best in Andalusia if not in whole Spain. He was right. The lights are beautiful, the popular twice a night light show (6:30 and 9:30) gathers big crowd to enjoy the music and synchronized light show. I love that music plays loud enough so people can sing and dance along.
