I've been staying here for about ten years. The location and staff make this the most perfect choice. The staff are lovely, the guy at the rooftop pool during the day is charming and attentive, as is the barman downstairs. My room was cleaned quickly and properly as soon as I left which is rare these days. The rooftop pool is great fun and an evening drink there is a must. The location allows you to look all over the city, walk to the best restaurants and the port area. It is worth getting a sea view room as it overlooks the port and park. There are many fine hotels in Malaga, a lot newer and grander but this is a classic. Can't wait to return.

Run away!!
Half of the rooms have an inside view, so no hope to see anything else but a wall...
The beds are the worst I ve ever slept in!
The fournitures are very basic.
Bathroom is the only nice thing in the hotel.

Dear guest,

First of all we want to thank you for sharing your opinion with us.
As you can see in all reservation sources, we have 7 types of room, the one you reserved is the cheapest and it's interior, which means no view to the street. If you want to have sea view you should reserve this type of room.
Regarding your comment about beds, they are all brand new and we have very positive feedback from guests related to them, anyway we would be grateful if you had communicated us any issue related to your bed in order to sort it out immediately.

Best regards,

In a great location. This hotel has a beautiful roof top and pool. However the staff at pool are not helpful or accommodating in any way. As a reward member and paying guest you are treated no different than the public off the street trying to take in the views! You are crammed in the back corner behind the bar to get a lounge chair that is no where near the pool. You have to go to bar to get waited on, although there is one waiter trying to accommodate outside guest. They should be regulating the pool area for paying guest to have the best access. The rooms are average and clean , but location and view make up for the lack of service. If you are wanting to be pampered on vacation probably not the spot for you. If you are willing to take care of your own needs then it will work for you! It’s somewhere between a 3.5 to 4 rating. The concierge and front desk are friendly and helpful, the wait staff need some improvement!

Dear guest,

First of all, we want to thank your comments.
I would like to know more exactly about my staff behavior. However, we would have really appreciated if you had told about your needs to Terrace Manager on Duty. They would have been more than happy to help you in any matter.
Please excuse us for the inconveniences.

Best regards,

Go in the door, up to the roof and order a cocktail whilst enjoying the most amazing views - it’s the best , after a day of shopping and sightseeing . There’s a swimming pool for guests- the service isn’t great but the views make up for it

We stayed in the AC Marriott as a mini-moon treat after our wedding in Mijas. We were already familiar with the hotel after spending a lot of time in Malaga, and chose the hotel specifically to watch the fireworks on the night of feria (from the rooftop).
Even on check-in, when we told the reception staff that we were staying for the feria and our honeymoon, nobody mentioned that the rooftop would be closed for a private event on the night of the fireworks. We had booked the hotel 11 months in advance and paid £900 for 5 nights; quite expensive considering other local prices. Aside from the rooftop bar and views, the hotel is nothing special inside the rooms and doesn’t offer anything better than other nearby hotels for half the price such as the Ibis, the hotel on Marmoles (forget the name) and the Guadalmina.
Nevertheless the reception staff (Francisco) was able to get us onto the guest list to enter the rooftop (only for the fireworks at midnight) but this was not a privilege offered to other guests - only because of our honeymoon and our complete disappointment with the situation and lack of information provided prior to our stay were we allowed access. We were very nearly completely disappointed.
Other points to note - we paid for the third level (upgrade) room which had a great view of the marina but no balcony - felt a bit contained. Also air conditioning system is a full building integrated system which is ancient and requires a full overhaul - the room was boiling hot most of the time (even with key left in 24/7 which we hate to do). Black-out blinds didn’t close fully, rooms are very small, and attention to detail is lacking - ie hand soap provided is in the shape of a golf-ball - clearly leftovers from another resort?! Also no bin in bedroom and bathroom bin has no lid or bin bag, just grease proof paper in the bottom. Pool water is salt water and is surprisingly cold even in August - not cleaned regularly enough and is murky with serviettes in the bottom.
Also the lifts - these are unbelievably frustrating and a system is clearly installed to use one lift at a time. Waited over 15 minutes in our corridor on one occasion. More frustrating at night when non-hotel guests are up and down to the terrace. Also as each car only takes 5-6 people you can wait painstakingly for a lift as it goes all the way down, then back up to collect you (stopping at EVERY floor en-route) and then you can’t even get in!!!
We loved visiting this hotel previously just to go to the rooftop bar and had dreamed that staying there would be perfect (we even considered having our wedding there) however I recommend only visiting for the rooftop bar as this is the highlight. The hotel is not spectacular - stay at the Mirimar instead if you’re looking for quality.

Dear RobandKateTravel

Thank you very much for sharing your experience with the TripAdvisor Community.

Feedback from our guests is a very important tool for us as it enables us to pinpoint our weak areas and to improve accordingly.

I gently inform you that in all reservations confirmation there is a note that says “Roof terrace and Atico restaurant may be closed for private event-contact hotel for availability”. Furthermore, 11th August night, Fireworks night, our staff informed you that reservation for our restaurant at the Terrace were completed. Indeed, information about that night were delivery to your room, showed in hotel elevators and in our Front desk.

However, and a part of you were informed by different ways, our colleague at Front Desk managed your access to the Terrace in order to make your stay as lovely as we can.

Regarding your comments about the room, the decoration even the golf ball soap, it is a standard from AC Hotels By Marriott. If you stay in an other AC hotel you find the same decoration where we look for a clean, urban and functional appearance. You can check our main web page and see our picture with amenities and services we had. That is reason why we do not understand you were disappointed when our product is shows in our web page.

Also, you booked a standard view room without balcony. If you wanted to have balcony, you should book the next step room. Please, be aware that you can see the features in the description. Nevertheless , you could mention that at our Front Desk agent and, if we have availability, updated your reservation.

Room rate during dates you stayed with us were according to the high season and Málaga Fair.

Our pool follow all quality standard establish by the Law. The pool water is salted due to we are in a city with sea, this is a quality and differential point to offer our guest.

We gently inform you that we have 4 elevators. 3 of them works by a new intelligent system which prioritize depending of maximum attendance and the last one works by a normal way.

We really thank you very much for sharing your experience with the TripAdvisor Community, because we have been able to answer your comments one by one since we totally disagree with them. We also remind you that hotel staff had to inform you that pets are not allowed in our property due to you brought a small dog with you. Noise causes by the dog, as it was alone in the room for many hours, disturbed other guest.

We regret that you did not find anything in our hotel according with your standard. Thing that is pretty strange as thank you to our guest we are a prosperous hotel with high scores in our reviews.

Best regards,
