Owner description: Designed in 1973 by Gary Player, El Paraiso is one of the most established courses on the Costa del Sol. Set out in the peaceful El Paraiso valley with the backdrop of the majestic 'La Concha' mountain to the north and the sparkling Mediterranean to the south, El Paraiso has the envious reputation of not only providing one of the best championship course layouts on the coast, which draws players back time and time again, but also being the friendliest international club too. New members, golf societies and visitors are welcome.

We played in the rain but had a great time. Its a challenging course at times with some steep hills and swooping holes. Loved it.

The course has a terrific layout. But at the moment the fairways are worn, almost without grass. And - what is a lot worse: for some stupid reason it seems to have been chosen to secure any bottom of the bunkers with concrete. Meaning that you have every possibility to hit hard stuff - I mean really really hard stone - when you hit a bunker stroke. Like playing russian roulette! You could easily hurt yourself or your SW.

El Paraiso Golf Club offers one of the best enjoyment/price ratio in golf on the Costa del Sol/Golf.
Easily walkable, it's appreciated by most of the players. Designed by Gary Player, the slope, a little over the average, will grant 2 stroke to an average handicap 18 for a par 71.
I think with this information, you can have a good idea of the course.

Played El Paraiso three times over the summer whilst in Spain and the green keepers continually upgrade the course. The course is in great shape and the greens very good - even better if players repaired pitch marks!!
There is plenty to test high & low handicap golfers with some water hazards and many palm trees that are known to catch the odd ball.
The restaurant and terrace have been upgraded and the food & drink are first class with a good selection. Again friendly staff with good grasp of English!
Recommended course on the Costa.

We play this course every time we come to the area, and still enjoy it. Whilst has its challenges, it is one of the courses suitable for high handicappers. The course has some lovely views, well laid out and great maintenenace. Feels like a golf club with lots of members supporting it - whilst many walk round, as not as long as others, still a struggle in the heat. It's about a 4 hour round. The club house has had some improvements and a lovely new terrace area, good food and always plenty of folk eating after their round. My only slightly negative comment, is that the service in the restaurant has room for improvement, which is the only reason I have marked down a bit.
