This rather small bar (with Schlosser altbier) offers live jazz music almost every day during the week, starting at 21:00 and going on till midnight. Nicely decorated, it creates a joyful and entertaining atmosphere, you cannot be in a bad mood after getting out of this place!
I went here two nights in a row. The place is tiny, which really adds to the intimate atmosphere. Drinks are a decent price for Altstadt, and the staff is friendly. The first night there was a band called Superjazz, complete with a trombone, bass, saxophone and banjo player. I got there early so I managed to get a good seat and other fun, like-minded people sat with me. So together we sang along and clapped to this wonderful band.
The second night a band called The Hornets were playing late 50's pop, then these three lovely ladies called Fraülein Swing performed with them, and they were like modern day Andrews Sisters. SO, SO cool and again a lot of fun. I even got up and danced!
HIGHLY recommended. ;-)
This is a great place to spend the evening at the "Alreadt" in Dusseldorf.
Traditional Jazz place, the oldest in Germany. Music is great. Beer is good.
Unfortunately, they don't serve food.
Just the best place in Dusseldorf.
Hidden away just off Bolkerstrasse Pootzke has live jazz.
The place gets very busy during trade shows - but the busier the better!
Altbeer is the correct drink here but all drinks are available and served either at the bar or by waitress service.
This is entertainment as it should be.
Bands tend to start around 8.30 to 9 pm and go on until around midnight.
Friendly and welcoming: always fun!
