Set in countryside with plenty of parking, a short bus ride from the centre of Aachen, this seemed ideal for our 2 night stay. However, we arrived on a Wednesday, which is their free day. (there was a note on the booking form, but I never imagined that it meant literally nobody there at all!)There was a very nice note stuck to the door telling "dear guests" that their key was in the door to their room, but not which room was ours. However, we think we were the only new guests that day. The entrance to the accommodation looked like a prison: iron railings instead of banisters on the stone staircase. It felt strange staying in a hotel with no staff.......what about security? The restaurant was not open either and it was difficult to find one locally: we asked some people at the attached riding school who were helpful, but ended up driving into the town centre.
The room was very clean and the bed comfortable but we had read other reviews and on their advice asked for a quiet room. Ours looked over the road and there was quite a lot of traffic noise during the early morning and evening - luckily not too bad at night. There were 3 large windows however, and flimsy curtains which did not really keep out the light. The bathroom was adequate though hardly more than that, with no washbasin plug. The shower worked when you could get it to stop spinning round and there was a lot of hot water. Breakfast was only adequate: we had to ask for fruit juice and there was very little choice. On the second day, we asked for fresh fruit and were given tinned fruit salad and 2 plums!
On the second evening the beer garden was running and we found the Italian waitress most helpful - she served us a meal there too. We made new friends and watched small chjildren on tiny ponies: a lovely setting and great fun. Again, not exactly haute cuisine, but plenty of it and not too expensive - main courses only available.
We met only 2 members of staff: the Italian lady and the young girl who served us breakfast. Both were absolutely charming and did everything they could to help us, but this didn't change the fact that we felt this was a rather bleak place to stay especially on Wednesdays! Maybe the weekend would be better...........
The excellent bus service to Aachen was hourly, and this avoided the need for expensive parking,
This hotel is ideally situated and the 2 staff we saw were delightful: some refurbishment and a regular staff presence are needed.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room and got one overlooking the road: there seemed to be only 2 other guests, so maybe there aren't any quiet rooms.

This is a typical family run German Hotel with comfort beds and traditional German restaurant and with a really nice (former italian) and service minded owner.
Nice surrounding if you prefer a 45 min countryside walk before dinner.
Bits beer and the home made Schnaps. And a fabulous breakfast

Our room was great. It is not close to the center but we were looking for a hotel easy to find and park the car. We liked: Staff, location (forest and fields), design (typical German countryside), breakfast (fan-tas-tic!!!!!), room (large and good views). The sparkling water bottles offered in the room were very much appreciated too!;.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing the street. it could become noisy in the early morning.

Sadly only spent one night in this hotel - if we had known how perfect it was we would have booked for the whole stay in Germany. The rooms may not be ultra modern like the big chains but the beds were comfortable and the room for 2 adults and one teenager was large and well furnished. Bathroom was fine if not right up to date. The family who run this hotel are lovely, don't speak English but we all managed fine and the beer garden on a lovely summer evening is not to be missed. The dinner was outstanding - all home cooked and very well presented and definitely the best breakfast we had in Germany. We will certainly be hoping to visit again in the near future.

A guest house on the outskitrs of Aachen. The location is in the middle of the woods which is obviously a popular place for the locals to explore. The location is great, the amenities at the hotel are great (horse riding, beer garden etc) and the food is fantastic. The decor is tired though and could do with a spruce up.
