My husband and I chose Capri by Fraser, Frankfurt, as somewhere to stay when acclimatizing to Europe time zones after flying from Australia before starting our holiday. We stayed there for 4 days on arrival and also for 2 days before returning to Australia.
We chose the hotel as we had experienced Fraser World hotels previously. We also wanted somewhere that was air-conditioned, had all day dining within the hotel, and also a guest laundry. Capri by Fraser advertised all these things and their pre-stay welcome email again reinforced the all-day dining at the hotel’s restaurant.
We stayed in a one bedroom executive apartment. Our apartment for the first stay was very clean and spacious and well stocked. The apartment for our second stay lacked shampoo, a tea cup, and detergent for washing dishes. As we were there only for 2 days the second time, we didn’t request replacements.
The guest laundry was also clean and served the purpose for our stay.
The staff were very helpful and very accommodating and the man serving in the bar was very personable and remembered our drinks – even across the 3 weeks between our two stays. The bar though was not open on weekends.
However, there was no all-day dining, despite the additional advertising beside the elevators. The restaurant provided breakfast but was not connected to the hotel and there was no charge back facilities to our hotel account. Breakfast vouchers were required to be pre-purchased from reception or cash paid at time of breakfast. This was not advised on check-in, and confusion reigned at our first breakfast.
That was the only time the restaurant was open and on enquiry at dinner time, we were advised that the restaurant would not be providing all-day dining for another two months. Yet the pre-stay welcome email before our second stay again advised of all-day dining. There were restaurants nearby, but we were wanting to stay in the hotel after our long flight. That was our plan. And especially so for one day when I was not well.
The air-conditioning also barely functioned. There was no temperature control and it basically blew out warm air. The outside temperature was cooler and we attempted to open the windows for cool air, but the construction noise and traffic outside meant we couldn’t keep them open. On our second stay, our apartment was at the back and easier to keep windows open. In fact, the hotel was so warm on a couple of occasions, Reception opened the main doors for cooler air. It was fortunate we were not there for any of the really hot days.
I would not stay there again, and would be wary about any Capri by Fraser premises.
