Not impressed

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Feb 2018via mobile
We stayed here for 3 nights and paid €230 which included breakfast. Our room was quite spacious but oddly laid out - the bed was in an alcove which meant we had to shimmy along the wall to get in and out of bed! The room had 3 windows with curtain that didn't fit/close properly - we were overlooked by offices and we very conscious of walking about after showering etc.

There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room which is poor. Neither was there any kind of safe in our room. Storage was minimal. The sink plughole in the bathroom stuck on the first night and we couldn't drain the water away. This took 2 trips to reception for it to be finally sorted nearly 24 hours later. Again this is not acceptable. On the second day we arrived back - our room had been cleaned but no clean bath towels had been left out. I asked at reception for 2 towels...one arrived 5 minutes later. We are still waiting for the other one...

Breakfast was ok the usual continental range of meats and cheese as well as bread and cereal.

The hotel itself is in an area I wouldn't have been comfortable with if I had been with one of my daughters instead of my husband, especially at night. If we return to Hamburg then we would try somewhere else.

The small hotel is very good for he price, the rooms are modern and clean. one this that was a little odd, the lady on reception understood very little English and after we checked in, got comfy she knocked on our door and said we were in the wrong room, she made us move to a lower floor, to a room which was exactly the same. it was slightly frustrating after travelling and walking around all day as we could not check in early. However our experience otherwise was good. Decent location, we always like to stay away from the centre and tourist traps when we have a city break. so enjoyed seeing a little of the real hamburg. The breakfast at the hotel was very good, with lots of selection.
Would stay here again if we returned to Hamburg, a great Christmas trip.

Room was large, the heat worked, the windows shut, shower worked, the bed was acceptable, the room was clean, and the staff were great. Soap/shampoo dispenser on the wall and lots of good towels, hair dryer too. Well-kept, modern rooms in a converted building in interesting area. Close to nice residential neighbourhood, walkway along the lake, and a few good restaurants and grocery stores nearby. Close enough to the train station but quieter than the other hotels, as the streets around it were not too busy. Not 5* luxury but more than acceptable. We would stay again.

I stayed with friends in this hotel in December 2017 during 4 nights. We occupied 7 rooms and 6 of them had the same characteristics. The room was clean, but for the price payed (110€/night) I expected much more. The rooms were to small. As we weren’t there to pass the time on the room, it was ok, inspite of the jump you need to make to get to the bed, as we didn’t have space on both sides of the bed. One of the problems is that the room didn’t have blackouts, only small curtains that didn’t feet the windows and with daylight it was dificult to sleep. Another thing is that the bathroom was so small that the basin was inside the shower, once again, it’s not a problem it’s just the concept of space reutilization, as the real problem was that, in 3 of the 4 days, I took bath with cold water and Hamburg in December is not properly a warm city.
The breakfast was enough but the staff didn’t care if you are stilling take it or not, as 10 minutes before the time, they were collecting all drinks and food from the tables.
For last, the localization is near a tube station, and a 30 minute walking distance from Rathaus square. For the price is possible to find an hotel nearby the center and attractions.

We stayed here for two nights, a very modern, clean with very spacious bathroom. The location is close to a local train station and around 15 - 20 mins by foot from the Central Station. Nice selection of breakfast on offer and staff are very friendly. The only concern that we had is walking along the back streets, some areas can be intimidating especially if you're walking alone. People tend to hang around in groups. Best is to take the public transport which are very reliable.

Room tip: Corner rooms with views.

This hotel was clean and nicely decorated. The location was a 10 minute walk from the central train station, but through a quite unsavoury area. As a solo traveller I felt quite uncomfortable walking through it.

Breakfast was nice, the usual German fare, with cold meats, cereals, toast and coffee available.

The only downside of this hotel (other than the dodgy area) was that there was no wifi.
