Two nights stay for business

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 15 Feb 2019
This was a pleasant surprise. Location at the Alster lake is great. Look forward to come back again and bring my jogging gear. Excellent location for an early morning or end of the day run along the lake. Pretty sure that I won't be the only one running. Nice spacious room. Clean. Would appreciate if there would be an option to create a cup of coffee or tea on the room and if there would be complimentary drinking water. Availability of Tesla destination chargers is a great add-on for me. In walking distance a great area with loads of restaurants and small shops.

Dear Caspar, many thanks for your feedback.
We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us.
Unfortunately tea and coffee making facilities are not available in our rooms because we just are a 3 star hotel.
But if you like we will bring it to your room any time.
Looking forward seeing you again.
Best regards, Franziska Noeckel / Review Manager

Really nice cozy and clean room. Lovely view, even had a pair of binoculars on the window sill. Excellent customer service front desk printed off my boarding passes without charging me. also they lent us some umbrellas when it was chucking it down.

In a fantastic location at a great price. The hotel staff could not have been more helpful. Very cosy room for one person and very quiet. Located directly opposite a beautiful lake and a short stroll to the bus stop and lots of nice eateries.
The only negative was the pillow, somewhat lacking in stuffing.

A great location , with the lake on one side and the cool area of St Georg on the other means this is great for location. The main rail station within walking distance is another bonus. The room we had was spacious and clean and staff were polite and attentive throughout our stay. Would recommend and will probably stay here again.

The room was clean, but slightly worn; the view out over the lake made up for that—despite the presence of a busy (and noisy) street in between. Parking is only available for a charge, and it’s not at all easy to find—if you’re driving, you might prefer a more accessible location. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast is available for a charge. No A/C.

This is a very rustic and historic hotel on the Alster not too far from the Kennedy bridge and with the bar and restaurant section of St. Georg just behind it. It is about 15 minutes walk from the central train station, but there is no public transport (at least none I could see) very near it.

My room seemed ancient. I have no idea when the building was constructed (1800‘s?) but the floor seemed original. It creaked with every step and I felt very sorry for the people below me, especially after getting in quite late one night.

The room looked over the Alster (well mostly over trees in front of the Alster) and the windows were really well soundproofed - the street between the hotel and the Alster is very busy, but it wasn‘t a problem. What was a problem was the lack of A/C, so unless the room service shut the drapes against the afternoon sun (they didn‘t!) it was baking. The windows had insect screening, so getting fresh air in wasn’t a problem - just not over night.

Breakfast was quite good but extremely full on both days - on the first day my colleague and I actually had to request for a second dining room to be opened, as the regular one was overfilled with guests.

All in all, I felt the price of the room was too high for what you get (around 160€ per night).

Room tip: Rooms to back likely less noisy, but windows keep street noise low.

Dear Guest, many thanks for your feedback.
We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us.
First there is a bus stop on the backside of the hotel, 2 minutes walking distance.
Bus Nr. 6 runs frequently to the central train station within 2 stops.
The building was constructed in 1880 and it is a hotel since 1950.
The original wooden floor is a component of the historic building and its creeking belongs to the special atmosphere in this old house.
Unfortunately none of our rooms provides air condition. Maybe you try a room to our quite backyard next time, so that you can sleep while the window is open.
We are looking forward seeing you again.
