Superbude St Georg is stop number 2 on our whirlwind tour. And it’s far surpassed our previous accommodations. Staff are very helpful and welcoming, the atmosphere is inviting, relaxing and warm. As a family with young kids, we’re enjoying and appreciating the facilities such as the shared kitchen, fridges, games room, computers, laundry etc. they allow use of the laundry for free and also provide fresh home made bread and Nutella for snacking! Reasonably priced coffee, tea and other drinks are available anytime. The room is set out well. It is spacious and bright - ample natural light with a very decent size bathroom. We don’t particularly enjoy the “rain shower”, it’s almost impossible to wash your hair with the barely there water pressure. There isn’t much around the hotel itself but a few blocks away there is some shopping, cafes and restaurants and a train/bus station. All in all, we’re very satisfied with superbude St. Georg.

We have just got back after we stayed for 2 nights at Superbude and we loved it. We had a couple of days in Hamburg as a young family (our children are 4 and 6). We booked the Minatur Wunderland package. I felt it was good value (room, tickets and breakfast was also included).
We arrived around 1pm and were initially told that our room wasn’t available yet (check in isn’t until 3) so we stored our bags and ate some food we picked up at the train station, in the Kitchen Club area. Staff were great and really friendly, speaking excellent English. A few minutes later the chap on the desk came and found us and said that he had managed to change our room to one that was available now. A real help with our children being so young and one that we were really grateful for.
Superbude is more hotel than hostel but it is very relaxed. The rooms are pretty cool. The decor is funky, they even have the singing Billy Bass fishes in the bathroom. Which our children thought was amazing. We were in a family room with a double and two singles. Bathroom was nice and I loved the shower. There are not any coffee or tea bits in the room. However there is the kitchen club downstairs with drinks including alcohol and snacks available. Everything seems to be done on trust and honesty which is really refreshing. The whole hotel also has free WiFi.
The reception area had colouring for children which ours took full advantage of. The kitchen club is three long benches so breakfast is quite communal. It worked really well. It was typically German with meats, cheese and bread as well as cereals , fruit, yoghurt and make your own waffles. There was also lots of juices and hot drinks. We all really enjoyed the breakfast.
It was easter weekend so the hotel was busy. It seemed really popular with locals and in particular young families. We really took this as an endorsement.
The hotel is easily accessed from Berliner Tor station. It’s no more than a 5 minute walk and literally round the corner. Berliner Tor has all the lines running through it including S1 from the airport, S21 and U1,2,3 so you can get anywhere in the city and Hauptbahnhof (central station) is the next stop. We bought a group ticket for €12 Which covered the whole family for unlimited travel that day on all services.
We were told there was a supermarket only a short walk away and we also saw a petrol garage across the road.
All in all, we say thank you to Superbude for a great 2 days. And we wouldn’t hesitate in returning or recommending it.

Highly overrated. I’ve travelled extensively in Europe and this is far below expectations. The room is very small and very basic - no water, no cup, no kettle, etc. Not only that, but they charge 2eur for tea in the kitchenette downstairs - as in you boil the water and you take a teabag for 2eur. If you rather press a button for coffee, that’s 3eur.

Worst of all, their marketing is very misleading. Their website states: “Whenever you feel like a drink, go ahead and get what you want.” One would assume this means drinks are included - WHY else would they say that, as there’s no water in the room. Wrong! Get what you want IF you pay overpriced prices!

Dear WJL,

we are sorry we misunderstood. “Whenever you feel like a drink, go ahead and get what you want.”-that means our kitchenclub is open 24/7 with self-service on a trust base. Even in a hostel you don't get drinks and food for free. But you can put your own stuff in our fridges as well, so you don't have to buy our stuff. Actually you are the first to misunderstood our offers and marketing, but we will double check our website.
I hope you will find something more suitable for you next time.

Best, SB*

This is cool! This is amazing! This is Superbude! Apart from Superbude St. Pauli this is the best place to stay in Hamburg - if you like cool, creative design in an urban, young atmosphere! Fantastic hotel for a good price - and it's even family friendly! We stayed in Superbude St. Georg with our two kids - and everything was excellent! Great rooms, good location, friendly service and first of all a cool atmosphere! The only bad thing about Superbude is that there's just two of them and they're both in Hamburg - we want one in Berlin too.

This is a nice hotel for a short stay in Hamburg. We came by flixbus and could walk from the Bahnhof to the hotel. The staff is very friendly and speaks English. Breakfast is fairly priced, but not that special. We had breakfast in the hotel at sunday, because a lot of places are closed that day. The rooms are nicely decorated, very modern, and clean.
