I stayed here for five nights on my first visit to Berlin. The hotel is big and modern: I opted for one of the recently refurbished rooms (6th floor) which was a few quid more but worth it. The room was huge and in immaculate condition, ultra-clean, and amazingly quiet - even with the window open (into a central well, rooms on Leipziger Strasse are probably a bit noisier). The staff are young and sometimes stretched a bit, but I thought they were all lovely, very helpful and efficient.
If (like some guests I saw) you don’t like having to wait a few minutes to check in, you probably don’t want to stay at a big busy popular hotel right in the heart of Mitte. If you’re more laid-back, then this is a perfect base to explore Berlin from. Stadtmitte station is a minute away, it’s a short walk to Potsdamer Platz, Unter Den Linden and most of the highlights of central Berlin, and several bus stops a few minutes’ stroll away to Charlottenburg and Alexanderplatz.
