The traffic and bar noise are horrible until at least 3 am. It is impossible to sleep with the window open because of the noise. It is not possible to sleep with windows closed, due to the heat. Until the hotel installs air-conditioning units in the rooms, do not say here unless it is winter. The location was excellent and the staff were friendly.

Room Tip: Only stay in winter when heat is turned on. You have to close the window to reduc3e the street ,traffic, and bar noise..

It's interesting to see that so many people had issues with noise, as we didn't have any during our stay. Whether this was because of where the room was located or because after 7.5 hours of driving and 2 hours on a ferry not even an earthquake would wake us up is anyone's guess.

The reception staff were polite, friendly, and very helpful in regards to parking which can be a bit tricky if you're new to the area. The room and bathroom were nice and spacious, but as suggested in the title the overall decor could really use an update or two. Breakfast was delicious with a wide range of available foods to suit most tastes.

Overall I and the missus were happy with our stay, but I can see why some wouldn't be.

The hotel was in a good location to restaurants and bars, but the bars directly across from the rooms are very noisy until early morning. It was very warm weather when we were visiting but we could not leave the window open and there was no air conditioning. The room was spacious and clean but the noise level was just not acceptable.

This hotel is a disaster in every aspect. The loud noise (racket) outside keeps you out of your sleep until the morning, night after night ("excuse us, we can do nothing"). "Free parking" is just a joke. Reduced tariff at parking garages works for some, but not for all despite the promise (they offered me a coin of 2 euro as a compensation for the wrong information - naive, vulgar, or surrealism?). The promise of free Internet is another joke ("if it doesn't work, try again in an hour"). Room cleaning seems to be too much of an effort. Some fresh towels and toilet paper, and a quick shake of the bed linen… that is it. The carpet floor of the room was not cleaned a single time over a whole week. The floor glitters in the bathroom, but the sink and the bath are not clean. The organisation of the toilet is very unpractical and taking a shower results in a mess. No possibility for cooling the room with 37 degrees (except for a small fan that only adds more noise). Breakfast is basic and very monotonic, tables not clean... Würzburg is a very nice city, but avoid this hotel.

Room Tip: If you have no other option and you have to stay in this hotel, avoid rooms on the street side.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Residence despite having some problems finding it. My gps said it was at Balthazar Platz 1, which is a pedestrian street. But I parked my car and found it by foot.
The foyer and the room were quite cos. The room had a very nice bed and the bathroom had a bath tub. It was nicely located pretty close to the old town and the next morning I ran up to the Marienburg Festung for a morning run. Would use if I come to Wurzburg again.
