This is a small town. Parking is easy as there is a shopping center with a garage just a few minutes walk to the old town and right next to Tourist Information.
We started by taking the small train through town. Fun ride if you have kids. We are in our 60’s and enjoyed the cool breeze on a hot day.
The thing we enjoyed the most was Fussen Castle on a slight hill above town. Easy to walk to, just follow the Main Street to the end and just up the hill.
We spent our last afternoon in Germany here and enjoyed it immensely.
Feel free to contact me if you have questions.

Whilst it was mid April we had fantastic weather so it was a delight to sit at one of the cafes near the fountain and enjoy a drink or two and watch the world go by. Lots of lovely shops ice cream parlours and café bars. All with the castle towering above them

Full of adorable, beautiful houses. Small, so not confusing. A lot of different restaurants, I myself enjoyed the chinese ones very much. Something for all.

Allow some time away from the castles to enjoy Fussen! Eat at Ludwig's Restaurant and Hotel, and get the best gelato you've ever eaten at the ice cream place just across the street. The monastery and church at St. Mang's Abbey are a GEM! There aren't too many tourists who know about them, but you can see them on the hill above town, and they are really worth the walk up the hill! There's also a wonderful walking path along the river. Fussen is really a wonderful little Bavarian town! Take a break from the crowds at the castles.

Füssen is a picturesque town. The Old City is full of charming and colorful Bavarian houses, towered by the imposing Hohes Scloss (High Castle) and the church tower of Basilica St Mang near the southern end of the cobble stone paved pedestrian street - Reichenstrasse. and sourounded by the distant peaks of the Alps. You can wonder the quant streets in the old city and survey the pretty little shops. You can relax at one of the many bakeries or cafes lining the street - sit outside, drink in hand and watch people go by. You can take a slow stroll by the Lech River savoring the peacefulness. You can explore the historical buildings - Hohes Schloss (art gallery inside), the Benedictine Monastery, The Franciscan Monastery (there is a great view of Füssen's skyline from the Franciscan Church). The city center in the evening light at sunset is simply lovely.

We stayed here for 3 nights/ 2.5 days), using it as a base for Neuschwanstein, Hohenschwangau and Telgelberg. But we also really enjoyed Old Town Füssen.
