This hotel is not bad. The staff is very friendly . Btw It needs to be renovated. The rooms are not very big and the bathroom is very small. There is a small parking lot . It is not far from the city center. The breakfast is not very rich. It's ok if your stay lasts a couple of days.

We were greeted here by name on arrival and given a very warm welcome with lots of interesting and useful local information. Our room was bright, roomy, and clean, with a spacious bathroom and comfortable fitting and furnishings. A small welcome touch was the led lighting on the bedside and desk - for once a hotel with sufficiently bright room lighting!

Breakfast - a very good buffet - was served in a bright and smart breakfast room. Parking was on the spot (and at no additional cost).

Hotel location was good. It was out of the main town, but very close to a tram stop with frequent services into the old town.

All this was excellent value with larking and breakfast included in the room charge.

The moment you walk in you feel like you have stepped back in time. The beautiful staircases, antique decorations and ambiance set the tone for a great time. Though its quaint, the Goldener doesn't lack in modern amenities such as Internet, telephone elevator and air conditioning. The staff is very helpful and for the most part speak English. Excellent service!

The location is perfect. It is surrounded by historical sites, beautiful churches and amazing restaurants. If shopping is your thing, everything from fine clothing and jewelry to quaint little craft and souvenir shops is right around the corner.

LOVE this place. Wouldn't stay anywhere else when I'm Salzburg!

As we had to check in late, we entered the code into the late-check-in key dispenser and found the room, following the signs. This hotel would earn a 4 star if it had an elevator, but some extra stairclimbing is good for the health! Breakfast offered salty and sweet, cheese, charcuterie, jam and müesli - really nice coffee and fruit juices. The second day, as they were aware we had a baby with us, they dished up for the young lady as well.
Rooms are not very large, but just what you need, - clean and nicely arranged, and the beds are comfortable.
Highly recommendable, good value. You can take tram 2 a one minute walk away from the hotel, riding directly downtown to Rathausplatz or Moritzplatz - in about 10 minutes or so. However, if you want to eat greek, turkish, thai, italo or whatever else, it's around the corner as well.

We wound up booking a room here on very short notice, after our plans for the night elsewhere fell apart. The location may be convenient for those in Augsburg specifically to visit, but we were just passing through. The neighborhood looked a little sketchy. Not bad, just a little sketchy.

The woman at the front desk was very personable and helpful, and insisted on carrying one of our suitcases upstairs to our room (and brought along a plate of fresh fruit, to boot!). The room was very modern, and very clean. There was a certain amount of road noise from below, so we kept the windows closed.

There were a couple of dining options within walking distance.

I would recommend this hotel to other travelers.
