We've stayed here before and it was so nice we had to return. The welcome was very warm and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The garage is no longer available for parking motorcycles, but they insisted on moving their mini bus out of the "wood shed" so the bikes could be undercover. We had a suit which was spacious and clean, with two balconies with views over the river and town. We had taken the half board option and this included a drink with the meal, so great four course meals with beer included, what's not to like?
The standards are as high as ever and you can walk into Oberammergau in 5 minutes; will return again

Room Tip: Stunning views at front, no church bells at rear.

Stayed here for one night on our way across the Alpenstrasse. The hotel is very dated but immaculately clean and very quiet and relaxing. The staff were attentive and informative. We managed to find the last parking place but the hotel provided a pass to park in the town too. Not sure what the swimming pool was like or other facilities as we weren't there long enough to use them. Had a great nice sleep as very quiet and shutters made sure there was no light. There was a great selection at breakfast.

Stayed here for a weekend break at the end of April. Our room was on the top floor at the front of the hotel and our spacious balcony had lovely views across the river, town and surrounding mountains. The bedroom was of a good size, the beds were comfortable and there was a TV (English channel BBC world news), there was also an addition of a small alarm clock. The bathroom was very large with a shower, sink & WC, it would have been lovely to have a bath as well to relax in especially after a days walking but the manager told us that rooms with baths were only available in rooms to the rear that hadn't been updated. No kettle and tea making facilities but this is the norm in Germany (we usually take our own). There was plenty of wardrobe space with a good supply of clothes hangers. Free Wi-Fi was good with a booster outside rooms so the signal was strong (we had a laptop, iPad and phone connected at the same time.

There was parking around the back of the hotel but only limited spaces, there were a few more spaces at the front of the hotel but plenty in a side street across the road to the left. We were given a parking permit for Oberammagau and the surrounding areas and also cards which gave us discounts on activities and attractions in the area.

We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening as we preferred to stroll in to town (5 min walk) to soak up some atmosphere, we ate at two restaurants in town (see my other reviews). The inclusive breakfasts in the hotel were very good, typically German with fruit, cereals, cold meats and cheeses, boiled eggs, bread and rolls, coffee, tea, herbal teas and juices but with the addition of scrambled egg and bacon,We didn't use the swimming pool, sauna or gym as we were too busy sightseeing.

The reception staff were very friendly but some of the serving staff were rather aloof.

Oberammagau was a lovely place to visit and we will be returning.
