Good to stay

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 Sept 2024via mobile
Located just a few minutes' walk from the historic old town, the hotel's location is undeniably ideal for those wishing to explore the area. The rooms, while somewhat dated, are generally well-maintained, clean, and comfortable. However, there are a few small enhancements that could significantly improve the guest experience, such as the addition of more power sockets and USB charging points.

One of the hotel's standout features is its tranquil atmosphere, making it an excellent choice for a restful night's sleep. On the downside, the breakfast offering, while adequate, left something to be desired. A greater selection of local cuisine would have been appreciated, though there is still enough variety to ensure most guests will find something to their taste.
The most notable disappointment, however, was the cost of parking. Despite the large size of the carpark, which is rarely more than half full, the parking fees seem disproportionately high. This detracts from the overall value of the stay, especially considering the ample availability of parking spaces.

(+) It is a big hotel with banquet halls. We booked a spacious room on the 9th floor with Danube view, which is nice any time of the day, be it a sunset or sunrise. Breakfast is excellent - a lot of choices, everyone can find something (even champagne).
(-) Unfortunately despite having 3 elevators, only one or two are in operation. We stayed on the upper floor and had to wait for quite some time to get down for breakdown in the morning. One day my wife asked twice to bring s bed sheet to our room and leave it on the bed, while we were absent. It did not happen and had to ask about it again in the evening. Parking costs 18 euro per day, which is somewhat pricey.

We (45F, 44M and boy12) visited Ulm and Maritim hotel for the first time end of July 2024 and we were very pleasantly surprised both with the hotel and the city. The hotel was great! Large and beautiful room, with a separat bedroom in the room for the preteen. The bathroom was large and clean, the beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious! Very nice and friendly staff everywhere.

Everything was great and mostly very clean, with two small exceptions: there was a piece of candy or chocolate next to the garbage can that was smeared out on the carpet, and there were som dried contact lenses on the small greeting card next to the right bedside. Other than that, we loved our short stay and would like to come back to Ulm and Maritim hotel another time.

We stayed overnight when travelling through this part of Europe. It was very pleasant to stay close to the Danube. The riverside walks were excellent, and the swans had recently had seven cygnets just by the boat club. Very scenic. The hotel was also located in reasonable walking distance to the town centre which was also pleasant for a stroll.

The hotel room was satisfactory. If I had any observations, it would be not enough power outlets for the modern traveller with phones and tablets that need a refuel! The bed was good, as was the bathroom and other room facilities.

The main weakness was the allergy labelling of the foods at both dinner and breakfast. As it was essential we knew the allergen information it was disappointing that the dinner was a buffet with no labels for allergens (or even names of dishes) and very few staff to explain. The staff were more interested in selling alcohol that being helpful. The same was true at breakfast. The lack of gluten free bread at breakfast was a serious omission, particularly as the stores locally would have plenty available. However, we managed, despite the irritation.

Room tip: It is not obvious, but it has a piano bar.

The hotel is very clean and modern looking. The room was a normal size and there is a small refrigerator. The beds where very comfortable and breakfast was good but would not pay 24 euros a person for what you get. The only issues were no ice bucket, A/C blows warm air and parking will cost you 18 euros a day. For USA travelers there are no USB ports in the rooms so we used a plugin adapter from Amazon.

Room tip: Ask for lower floor if you want A/C that works ok. Bring euro adapter because there are no USB ports to charge your phones.

Nice hotel with some great amenities and next to the river for some lovely walks / jogs. The hotel and staff are lovely also some aspects of the hotel are a little dated but in good order. The hotel is very well looked after and the spa and pool are great. Location is wonderful for walks along the river although it is a little (but nice) walk into the main part of the city.
