Out in the sticks

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 8 Sept 2023via mobile
Chose this hotel because we were visiting the Mercedes museum, and this is very close by. However getting in and out of Stuttgart by public transport was much more of a faff than I’d thought. There is a U bahn station close by but it only operates for big games at the adjacent sports stadiums, so that leaves you reliant on either the bus, the S bahn which is quite a long and boring walk, or the U bahn at Schlachthof which is a good 20 minute schlep over the river. It’s okay but not ideal, especially with luggage. Avoid travelling to/from Bad Canstatt which is a pretty unpleasant walk.

The rooms were okay but nothing very special, and were stuffy. The AC didn’t work very well and had a bright green light on the console which kept us awake at night. In fact the worst thing about staying here was the poor quality sleep I had every night. The TV had loads of channels, but only about ten of them actually worked. The bathroom was nice though. I paid about €130 a night and I thought that was too high a price for the quality and location.

I would recommend staying elsewhere. The hotel is in a rather strange area which is often quite dead, and not particularly pleasant or convenient. It can also be quite loud after an event.

A great stay at this hotel. All staff were very helpful and polite and spoke perfect English. Breakfast had a huge selection of cooked food, fruit, meats, pastries etc.. We had a family room for myself and 2 teenagers. We would definitely return. Thank you.

I was on an important business trip, and the fire alarm went off at 130 am. It continued until 2 am. We were in the cold outside while the German fire department handled the situation. That same morning, when my associates and I had to leave and check out of the hotel at 5 am, I asked about the safety of the hotel and if what was burning, as I could smell something burning while everyone waited in the lobby. The front desk representative told me “yes, it was the microwave, I’m sorry”. I guess he burned his midnight snack and woke the entire hotel? Complete unacceptable. I’ll never stay at this property again if I can avoid it and will additionally ensure my coworkers take their future business elsewhere.

My wife and I spent the weekend in Stuttgart to see the reunion concert of Porcupine Tree. Although we live in Stuttgart, we figured we would stay here in hopes of meeting Steven Wilson. Lo and behold, we did...not once, but twice. This hotel has an incredible staff from check in to service at the bar. The rooms are more than adequate with a refrigerator and a microwave. It is literally right next to Porsche Arena and a ten minute walk to the Mercedes-Benz Museum. We also walked into Bad Cannstatt twice in less than 30 minutes. Bottom line: if you are here for a concert, then this is the only place to consider. You will not beet down.

Room tip: They have on-site parking at a very reasonable price.

Stayed there for a concert right next door...you couldn't beat the convenience. Parked right on site, we showed up about 2 hours early but the super friendly staff checked us in right away. The breakfast in the morning was great. I would recommend this hotel for anyone attending a function at any of the venues on Mercedesstrasse.

Room tip: The onsite restaurant was very good for the morning breakfast buffett, but after breakfast it didn't open again until 3pm.

We did a pit stop here to take kids to Mercedes’ museum.

It was not a big event weekend so the area was really dead.

Hotel reception was friendly but only 1 person manning the desk so it always seemed busy with queues.

We got an upgrade to a big corner room with decent air con, lots of wardrobe storage and a decent sized bathroom. Room was nice and clean. Except safe did not work. (Told staff at checkout since we were only staying over night)

We also had dinner at the restaurant downstairs. It charges silly money for every item on your plate. Literally a single portion of salmon is 15 euros (maybe 150g) with nothing else on the plate. If you want a side, you have to pay for that. Same with the schnitzel. Every single item you add to your plate is an additional cost. Staff was fine but the pricing system was ludicrous. We stupidly followed the tripadvisor reviews for the restaurant and the place was pretty dead. We should have eaten at the sports bar outside which was outdoors and has more ambience for possibly the same level of food. Who knows. The only redeeming feature is we got some discount back from this restaurant because of our club member status.

We only stayed here for one night so it was sufficient as a clean functional hotel.

Parking is free on the street when there is no event on. We chose to park in the car park anyway which you have to pay a day rate since it is not owned by the hotel.

Hello Hi_there_hi_there_hi!

Thank you for staying with us at the Hilton Garden Inn Stuttgart NeckarPark and for sharing your experience here on Tripadvisor.

I was pleased to see that you enjoyed our location and the equipment and size of our rooms. And please accept my apologies for the broken safe, which has meanwhile been fixed.

Sad that we failed to live up to your expectations in our restaurant which many of our guest like because of the homemade burger patties made from freshly minced meat and dry aged stakes.

I do hope we have the pleasure of welcoming you back and many greetings from Stuttgart,
