A French guy we met wondered why we were bothering to go to Toulon. But we loved it. Great walks, the Bateau buses going across the harbour and the Teleferique up to Mont Faron. This hotel is well placed not far from the station and very near the excellent daily market. We had a great room at a good price. Breakfast was also excellent. We mark it down though because we were initially overcharged when we paid our bill and then had to wait to be reimbursed. Also in the rooms it says breakfast is 12 Euro whilst in fact it's now 13. A good hotel but details and customer service count.

*7 min walk from train station
*5 min walk to harbour
*30 min walk to beaches
*<5 min walk to shops and restaurants

Like with most of the hotels i now use (having learn't the hard way - F U Travel Republic) i use Booking or Hotels.com to find the hotel and then book direct through the hotels website.

This hotel was a great little find. It was cheaper to book this way than the above/even as a walk in customer.

My partner and i paid 160Euros for 2 nights, Thu and Fri 17-19 August. The room was very clean, had a big bed, small flatscreen TV and large walk in shower. Towels were replaced after Day 1 along with the coffee and tea.

The location is ideal. Restaurants are on your doorstep, the harbour is a 7 min stroll and the beach a solid 30 minute powerwalk.

We spend most of our time walking to the beach, stopping off at the supermarket for food/drink and then leisurely walking back.

We stayed here two times, the first day and the last day of vacation.
It's less than 10 min walk from Toulon train station, and in the center of downtown Toulon. The reception opens 24/7, my boyfriend arrived at 4am but still he was kindly received by a reception guy.
The room is just simple, shower is just ok but great value for money (84 per night!). Super clean, the bed is a bit too stiff. Very noisy because windows don't insulate outside noise, and this town is very busy until midnight.

The staff at the Grand Hotel Dauphine are wonderful. The reception staff are very friendly and attentive. They offer advice about the local area when asked and always appear genuinely interested in you having a nice stay. During our 4 night stay I had a small issue with the room and the staff tried to rectify and resolve it straight away.
The rooms are spacious and recently renovated. We were upgraded and the rooms were lovely and very clean. The rooms have air conditioning.
We had breakfast which was a buffet style, with a selection of hot and cold options.
The hotel is very well located in the centre of Toulon, but was initially a bit diffficult to find as there are 2 hotel Dauphines on adjacent streets, the other one does not have Grand in its title.
You can park nearby in the underground car park for a reduced rate.

This hotel has a great location in proximity to the harbor/waterfront, the charming town, and the train station. Service has been warm and superb so far. We chose to eat breakfast at the hotel and have not been disappointed in the least. The rooms are quite large for a European hotel room and the decor is modern and bits of pop art scattered around. We would definitely stay here again. Just remember to leave your room key with the front desk before heading out on the town.
