The hotel is just outside the port area in a quiet headland overlooking the port and forts and museums of old town on the opposite bank. It is a 15 minute walk to the centre of Vieux Port and the metro station.
On arrival we found that our room did not enjoy the superb port view as advertised but instead we were above the hotel service entry where staff came out for a smoke and overlooking the back of the Novotel and a kiddies funfair ride on the hill behind. We were offered a change to a similar room with a port view at a "special" rate of €50 extra per night which we declined.
The room itself was large and excellently equipped with all the facilities expected in a good quality hotel. The large bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast was in the top floor restaurant which has magnificent views over the port. The quality of the food and service was excellent, probably one of the best breakfasts that we have had in France.
Otherwise, we did not eat in the restaurant or use the bar. Perhaps we were put off by the eye-watering prices for room service - bottles of wine starting at €50+, sandwiches €20+. This was at least twice the price of nearby restaurants.More
