Was disappointed that the museum was 99% dedicated to the work of a single artist. However, it’s a nice place with pretty grounds.

We visited Foundation Maeght on the recommendation of a friend. We travelled with the bus from Nice to St. Paul de Vence which is an old town on top of a hill, very touristic even during October but is a must. Stunning views from the walls - not easy to walk, small high-up walking strip on the inside of the wall with no protection from falling. So, only for those that are brave, young enough and fit... But the view is fantastic. The town is full of all sorts of art- and giftshops. We were done with this visit within 2 hrs and walked to the Fondation Maeght which is on another hill about 2 km away from St. Paul.
The foundation exhibits the most complete Miro collection - paintings and sculptures that we have seen in an environment unseen before. High pines, olive trees, stone walls surround the magnificent buildings that host the paintings of Miro, Chagall, the sculptures of Miro and Giaccometti. Not many people were with us, so we had exclusive views and could take photos. The place has a unique atmosphere, magic and beautiful. We enjoyed the place for 3 hrs and took the bus down to Nice, Place Phoenix. We are very happy we did this tour. It is a must for people that love art, beautiful landscape and a peaceful environment.
Great Foundation specially as we admire Miro’s work. The amount of art displayed in and out were just amazing. The building where his art is displayed is well distributed, giving us a good flowing sensation.
Great space to visit right next to a beautiful medieval town.
This unique exhibition space includes exterior and interior exhibits of modern paintings, drawings, and sculpture. The grounds are lovely and provide a peaceful background to explore.
The exposition Joan Miro was impressing but on the other hand not our best experience.
Further we found it silly when paying tickets trough trip advisor internet, one still has to pass the cahier to receive a paper ticket.
Thus was a return visit after quite a number of years. The Foundation is a modern art gallery replete with Miro, Braque, Chagall, Giacometti both in the gallery buildings and spread through the extensive grounds. There is presently a special exhibition of Joan Miro work which occupies many of the Gallery walls and is well worth a visit in its own right. But a consequence is that many of the original works from the other artists which I recall from the previous visit are not on show.
