The hotel itself is situated in very nice area. View from balcony is breathtaking. However rooms are dated and far from high standard. Hotel is good for couples and families with bigger children. The restaurant in the hotel is great. Dishes are not only delicious but beautifully plated.

I stayed in July 2017 with a very large group (including 20 children) and the staff did everything they could to make sure we has the best stay possible. Lene, the Hotel Manager, and her team are very friendly, very flexible, very helpful and always smiling. The location is perfect to enjoy the ocean and the nearby islands for boating and diving. The restaurant does a great job and the quality of the food and wine is first class. The pool is a 450m walk away but when you get there, it's fantastic and there is a bar and restaurant for wonderful long lunches. The rooms are a little dated, but they are perfectly functional and well maintained. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to get away.

We booked the same day over the phone. The hotel was fully booked so for our 2 young kids and ourselves we were offered the last room avail which is the 'unsold room' the one that isn't on the website. The young lady was very friendly , explained very clearly what to expect , a room with 1/2 a window, on the side of the property, but with new beds, a double and a single, so spacious. We were offered a travel cot at a small cost, which also fit in the room. So it was great space wise.
We were visiting family who were on holiday in the port of Hyeres 10 min away, were planning on being out all day and were only staying 2 nights so we really didn't need a view.
Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised , we were expecting a lot worse, but the colors were fresh, the bathroom spacious and very clean, nothing wrong with staying there for a couple of nights.
Besides the breakfast terrace and the pool area view makes up for any non view you may have!!
The Hotel is composed of 2 parts, the hotel with the rooms with a reception area and dining room/terrace, where they host a very complete and delicious breakfast buffet ( homemade jams, beautiful breads, eggs , bacon, freshly ground coffee etc) and a la carte menu dinner.
And about a 10 min walk away, down the side of the hotel and down the road is the 2nd part, with the small closed/guarded parking (at night only 9 eur/night) , apartment section of the hotel ( for rent by the week), outdoor restaurant amongst the pines with partial ocean view, the grill restaurant, the tennis court, and down the hill/ stairs on the rocks is the salt water pool, filled with sea water, there is also a space there for lounge chairs, the space extends to the side , with a concrete platform that hosts more sunbeds.
This area is absolutely gorgeous, you will find this sort of real estate in most 5 star hotels on the riviera.
The private property leading up to the pool is very pleasant and quiet, think about a nice provencal garden with huge pines and lots of ciccadas for a genuine provencal experience!

IMO The pros of this hotel are:
-the great breakfast ( 18 eur but worth it)
- central location but feels removed and quiet ( 5 min drive from Porquerolles ferry)
- friendly staff
- beautiful sea view from the hotel restaurant and pool.
- really good food roadside at the little brasserie off the reception.
-beautiful and natural pool area complete with diving boards into the sea
- small platform seaside for swimming in the sea.

IMO cons of this hotel are
- public parking can be limited in the small town( tip: park on the lower road in front of the hotel)
- the hallways/ elevator/ common bathrooms are a little dated
- from what we could see, the lower rooms with sea view and balcony also look over the little road in front of the property and also the cars parked there, so choose a high floor when booking.
We will def be back!

Hello, we are really happy to receive your feedback following your stay in our hotel. We are glad that you had the time to enjoy the view during the breakfast buffet, the park and our pool. The room that you rented is not one of our standard rooms and therefore we wanted to explain the room very detailed, to avoid any surprises when arriving. We are glad that the room was fine for the two nights that you stayed. We will be renovating the hotel in the years arriving and it will be a pleasure to welcome you and your family again. All the best, Lene

We stayed here last year, and had to come back this year. The small village of Giens, where the hotel is situated, at the tip of the Hyeres peninsula, could be a small village in inland France, so unspoilt is it and relatively untouristy. This in spite of its being only a very few miles from Toulon-Hyeres airport, which is too far away to be noisy, and takes only a small number of flights each day. There are good walks to be had from Giens to neighbouring hamlets and along the coastline, and good swimming from the sandy beaches along the isthmus, from the rocks beneath Giens, and in the hotel's sea-fed swimming pool. The hotel boasts two restaurants in the main building, one a brasserie-type place on the street, the other a gastronomic restaurant with magical views over the sea. A short (300 yards?), if at times moderately steep walk from the hotel is the gateway to its beautifully maintained gardens, which drop down to the sea. Within the gardens is an excellent, informal outdoor restaurant; and a short distance away the hotel also offers barbecue lunches in high season. The food is always of a high standard: breakfasts are a highlight, but so are lunches and dinners! The hotel staff are cheerful and friendly, as well as professional. The only reason I can't give it five stars is that most of the bedrooms are in need of modernisation, and some are without air conditioning: awkward when one's told to keep the windows shut at night because of mosquitos. But a major renovation programme began in 2016 and will restart during the winter closure in 2017/8. This will surely be the finishing touch. In the meantime, even if the rooms are not all one might want, the ones with a sea view and balcony are pretty good: the view is, as they say, to die for. In all, highly recommended to couples, and to families with children who would enjoy swimming and walking and tennis but not be looking for an exciting night life. This is a place for those seeking tranqullity in a breathtakingly beautiful setting.

Room Tip: Well worth paying the extra for a balcony and sea view.

Hello, thank you for sending us your feedback after your holiday at hotel Le Provençal. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Giens village, and that you enjoyed as well our swimming pool and restaurants. As you mention a full renovation of the hotel will start very soon, and we will then propose rooms with panoramic sea view with air condition. Unfortunately we cannot do much to avoid the mosquitos when the temperature starts to increase and therefore we kindly remind the clients to close their terrace door. We hope to see you again very soon. Kind regards, Lene

Splendid setting, lovely view over the sea, the terrasse is very charming, rooms are quite basic, I would just expect a little more in the design, and for example have curtains at the showers - the pool and private beach are also what makes this place pretty great - just note as the pool is filled up with sea water they empty it every 3 days after 5pm!!

Room Tip: Sea front rooms and check access time for the pool - as the pool is filled up with sea water they empty it every 3 days after 5pm!!
