I ate here with my wife and son on a Friday night in April.

The warm welcome we received on arrival set the tone for the whole evening: extremely attentive service, including the chef himself introducing his daily specials to us. The ambiance of the place was relaxed and comfortable.

The food, however, was just a little flat. The foie gras was a little too sweet and the snail starter lacked seasoning. The beef main course was fine but not more than that and the puddings were not very memorable. The cheese was good, though, and the wine list comprehensive.

Vital statistics: 4 courses for 2 and 3 for 1 plus 2 bottles of wine: €171.

Excellent service and a very nice meal with some (previously untried for me) flavour combinations which worked really well. Very good value. We had the tasting menu for 59€. The chef came out and checked what we wanted, I don’t think they speak much English and my French isn’t great but all that came was delicious.

We were meeting good friends in Le Mans for dinner and as my choice of restaurant was fully booked they found the Fontaine and boy was it a good find.
We loved the feel of the place when we arrived and once ensconced with a glass of champagne were impressed when the chef appeared at the table and spent a good 5 minutes discussing the menu particularly his recommendations of the day.
I had entrée .plat and dessert as per his days choice.
Fantastic uniquely styled dishes , I will not bore with details but suffice it to say my starter of Profiteroles filled with escargots and a celery puree based sauce were exceptional
Great service great food reasonable prices for the exceptional quality and a very talented chef
will certainly be back

We discovered this wonderful restaurant a couple of years ago when we decided that BBQ at the racetrack was getting rather stale. We were a little unsure since we arrived fairly early and despite the initial confusion over numbers were seated and then despite being a mixed group of petrolheads we had a chance to try some most excellent food and drink. The prices were very reasonable and the food and service wonderful, as you would expect a marvellous selection of wine and spirits which everyone enjoyed, even the most picky palate was sated. If you are unsure as to what to try the taster menu so you can be more adventurous next time out.

I booked a table at La Fontaine in an attempt to get organised before a Le Mans 24hr trip and because it appeared to be the most highly rated restaurant in Le Mans which could be booked online.

It's not the easiest restaurant in the world to find and appears to be in a less desirable part of town. First impressions in the restaurant weren't fantastic either as it seemed a little dated and smelt a tad musty, we needn't have worried however as the food more than made up for this.

The chef came and discussed the menu options with us and we all opted for the taster menu which seemed varied and interesting. We then proceeded to eat our way through around seven courses of very tasty and very well presented food ranging from delicious foie gras to a pea sorbet, fish and beef courses and a delicious sample of desserts.

The wine was very nice too (and we opted for the house white!!). Overall the experience was superb, we had a great night and what turned out to be a very welcome (and reasonable) break from the food at the circuit.
