A good stay at a good, clean and quiet hotel in the centre of Rouen. It can be a bit difficult to access by car, but the hotel otherswise lives up to the usual Ibis standard. It is just a 15 minute walk to the old city centre and there is a big shopping centre opposite it.
Down=town area near Rouen. Good tram service into Rouen - 3 stops or 15 min walk. Shopping mall 5 mins walk with excellent supermarket. Rooms very cramped. We were lucky and had room overlooking inner green/treed area. Otherwise noise of frequent trams could have been annoying,
It took us several times around the block to find the entrance to this hotel, which is really under the light on the corner. Once we did check in, the very hardworking front desk staff was kind. Our room - a triple - was bare and depressing. However, we opted for dinner in the lounge downstairs and were blown away. The front desk staff threw together a cheese plate and bread, and I had the goat cheese and grains, and they were both outstanding. The cheese plate was the best we had in our week in Normandy, with a fantastic selection of local regional cheese. I just ordered any old red wine, but it too was outstanding. We had just come from England where one of us had been eating beer soup at the hotel, which was a sort of a mess, and coming into this very unprepossessing hotel and eating such heavenly delights provided a very happy surprise. The staff also kept up a happy rapport with other guests in French, with lots of congenial laughter and a happy atmosphere. Our thumbs up!
Great value. Very convenient walk to the old city and Joan of arc museum. Very comfortable room. Parking was very convenient. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Would stay at this hotel again for the value.
Good location for visiting centre of Rouen. However, got no sleep due to poor soundproofing of rooms. Rooms very small and breakfast poor quality. Very expensive and will look for alternatives next time.
