We were recommended this small italian restaurant near our hotel and had also read previous reviews before our trip.
We were not disappointed.
Only about 9 tables very, clean and you can see right into the kitchens.
Very good staff who were very patient with our limited command of the french language.
We chose a salad and bruchetta with parma ham combination as a starter to share. I kid you not, it could have fed 4 people!!!! Delicious we felt a little guilty not devouring it completely, but we had our main courses still to arrive.
I chose a spicy sausage pizza and my wife chose carbonara style pasta baked in the oven like lasagne. Both were very nice but we could not finish them after our starter.
To drink I chose the house red very reasonable at only 7 euros for a half liter, you also get as normal complimentary water, not as chilled as other eateries but still ok.
So if your in Carcassonne give this little gem a try.

Thank john s

Our first night in the area ever. After an 8 hour drive from Paris to our little village, we were tired and starved. The streets had rolled up for the night. We drove to Carcassonne in search of anything... It must have been a Sunday because we drove round and round and nothing was opened anywhere. It was maybe 9pm and we were hopelessly lost and suddenly we saw lights on here. We took the chance and went in. It was quiet with only one other table finishing their meal. And the restaurant was gearing down for closing. But Luck was on our side and we were welcomed with open arms..
The pizzas we aordered were fresh and large and to us the best thing we ever tasted...

That was 6 years ago... We spent the next 5 years trying to find this place again. We had been lost, tired, and it was dark and we didn’t even know it’s name or where it was.
We knew we would recognize it though if we saw it again and miraculously last year we did...
L’Italia is now our favorite Pizza Restaurant in Carcassonne and one we visit at least once or twice during each trip...
It was worth the wait...

Very busy, you know it's good because the locals are queuing up for takeaway! We were lucky to grab a table for 2 outside at 7:30pm (only half an hour after opening!) and all the other tables outside were reserved so it's worth reserving if you can! €10-12 for a lovely pizza, great crispy thin base, generous toppings and very tasty. A few nice desserts also on offer, beers and house wine for very good price.

The waitresses were both very busy and service did take a while, but really this felt more in the French way than rudeness or neglect on their part and we spent a lovely couple of hours sat outside over our pizza, wine, and tarte tatin.
