We've now had the pleasure of eating at L'Initial twice, once in 2016 and once in June 2018. Each time we were served an exquisite seven course tasting menu, each course delicious, inventive, and perfectly prepared.

The food is fabulous--yes--and beyond that, one feels an intense commitment to service and execution. We've eaten at literally hundreds of restaurants in Paris. This is a truly extraordinary place.

Some notes on my Trip Advisor check-offs:
The price of 48 euros is not insignificant, of course, yet the price is shockingly low given this level of quality. It is superb dining at mid-range prices.

This is a French restaurant, and yet there are Japanese influences, a bit like Hiramatsu (also excellent, much more expensive).

My husband and I visited L'Initial for our Paris splurge dinner. We booked online and our first choice date was fully booked but we were accommodated the following evening. The online communication was excellent, including asking about dietary preferences.
The menu was a 7 course tasting menu. Each course was superb, from the cold soup to the foie gras to the main courses and the dessert. The price is very reasonable at 48 euros. Service was attentive but discreet . At the end of the evening the waiter walked down the road to find us a cab as it was raining quite heavily. All in all highly recommended.

My husband and I recently dined at L'Initial in Paris and found the experience to be first rate. Combined with the various small dishes that are brought out between the main courses, you will be amazed with the creativity of the Japanese Chef and his twist on French food. Just a couple of highlights were the foie gras with sautéed cherries, and the duck pie. A great value for food of at this level. Coupled with the food was outstanding service.

We have just got back to our hotel and had to immediately write a review after a truly exceptional meal at l'initial. What a wonderful evening.

L'initial serves a 7 course tasting menu, starting tonight with three mini tasters of croissant, lovely cheese bread and a tasty goat's cheese tart. This was followed by an amuse bouche of apple and spinach (?) sorbet with a light, cold 'soup'. Very fresh and tangy.

Next was an aubergine, whelk and scampi salad that was delicious - perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The next course was sauteed foie gras with cherry - a delightful melt-in-the-mouth dish with the foie gras crisp on the outside and meltingly soft on the inside.

The fish course was outstanding - silver corvina confit (similar to sea bass) sitting in a light courgette sauce that was worthy of any Michelin star restaurant. This was a superb piece of cooking.

From the choice of four main courses I had the veal tenderloin with morel sauce - yet another exceptional dish.

The pre-dessert sorbet was followed by the lightest ever coconut mousse with mango and passion fruit. I have run out of superlatives to describe this magnificent creation! A dome of coconut mousse filled with mango pieces sitting on a nutty shortcake biscuit with a passion fruit sauce. Amazing.

To end, coffee or tea with petit fours, again all delightful.

Throughout the meal, the influence of the Japanese chef is clear, occasionally in the flavour combinations but always in the attention to detail - vegetables are sliced so finely, micro herbs placed with care and everything is beautifully presented.

Finally, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, present but discreet.

I can't praise this marvellous restaurant highly enough and look forward to returning to Paris to eat here again. It can't happen soon enough.

This restaurant is so good that I must review them again on our second visit.

Sometimes when you return to a place that you have had a wonderful experience, it will disappoint. Not so with Restaurant L'initial. We dined here in October on my husband's birthday. When we returned to Paris in May the first thing I did was book a table here.

We find this restaurant to be perfection. The service is impeccable, the food is as delicate and tasty as it is beautifully presented. The ambiance is formal but not stuffy.

To top it off, it is very reasonably priced. Every time we return to Paris we will make dining at L'Initial our first priority.
