Wonderful Find!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Feb 2023
We made a late decision/booking and stayed here.

Cracking location, right on the doorstep of Montmatre, and three metro stops and a few bus stops within a couple of minutes walking distance, so Paris is really on your doorstep.

Staff very friendly, and although the rooms are small, they were perfectly clean and would not only recommend the place, but will look to use this as our base on further trips to the city.

We stayed here for a birthday weekend and it was amazing, the staff are so lovely and cannot do enough to help you. We were especially impressed by the staff member in the breakfast area who made a special effort to go out and get extra bread. We also were treated with respect and welcomed! When we left and waiting in the reception area the concierge made us two coffees without any trouble.

The rooms are quite small but this was expected due to the way Paris is, however we loved it and the boutique feel was amazing, the breakfast was continental with plenty of choice, this did also have scrambled eggs, pancakes - they also served sausages and bacon on alternate dates, the amazing place the breakfast is served in a beautiful area at the base of the building which really gives it character.

The bed was very comfortable and the whole hotel is very clean. Location is really good too with Moulin Rouge at the top of the street and easy access to lots of public transport routes and metros.

Thank you for an amazing stay on my first visit to Paris

Check in was quick and efficient (we used online check in). The hotel is very good located, metro and bus stations in the close vicinity.
Room was spacious compared to other Paris hotels (we were 2 adults and three children). Bath was refurbished and very acceptable. All in all, a good choice.
Best was the service, attentive and friendly. We would come back.

Can’t fault the dedication to the the theme of its namesake. This charming hotel near the theatre district is pretty standard for a boutique in the area. It suffers though from 3 issues that may make you think twice.

1) the fabric polyester blue wallpaper some rooms are decorated with is a asthmatic’s nightmare especially where it’s worn. Going to sleep and night and waking up with a layer of plastic dust is fine for most but even double inhalers weren’t strong enough for a good nights sleep.

2) the aircon, you’ll see this in a couple of other reviews. Suffice to say while mine was thankfully not stuck on, it was haunted. By that I mean it showed to be on cooling yet switched to hot air by magic. Seeking help was a bit of a miss on this as well so I ended up leaving it off and opening the window.

3) expect to hear everything. This shouldn’t put you off by any stretch. Bring ear plugs and you’ll be fine but like many boutiques you have to accept it’s a bit creaky and loud.

Over it’s an ok hotel I wouldn’t say don’t go. If boutique is your vibe and you don’t suffer in any of the circumstances above you’re golden. If you do though it may be worth calling ahead and seeing what they can do to minimise any problems for you.

Dear Jaysteruk , thank you for your kind and honest review.
For the wallpaper , we have changed it most of our room , to offer a better experience to our guest.
For the aircon we made a maintenance in all our system to avoid problems that you encountered during your stay.
For the noise we put a new carpet in corridors to minimize steps noises.
In all cases it's always a pleasure to read and complet and kind review , thank you for taking time to write it.
We will be delighted to welcome you again for your next stay in Paris.
Kind regards
Hugo

Found this hotel on a whim but I loved everything about it. Four friends including myself were traveling so we booked two rooms and requested that they be beside each other. When we arrived they were able to ensure that our rooms were beside each other as requested and whatever we asked for at the desk they were always very helpful in helping us with it. This was definitely one of my favorite parts of my stay in Paris. They are also very conveniently located to the Moulin Rouge, we could see the windmill from our window. They are also about a 4 minute walk to the metro and there is a bus stop right outside the door. Would definitely stay here again!

Again, I would like to return to the concept value for money. We got a Superior room but felt more like a shabby single, worn and tired. Nice staff that meant well and yes, comfortable beds which I will NOT be grateful for, at that price it is the minimum I expect. Not being satisfied we passed on breakfast and ate elsewhere. On the plus side: Check out is at 14.00 which is really good.
