A boutique style hotel set in a quite street but close to all amenities. Simple in style but clean and very welcoming. In the street there were good restaurants a bar and a little supermarket with many more restaurants close by.

Thank you Madam, we appreciate and are glad to read you enjoyed your stay here ! You are definitely rights : you'll find plenty of restaurants and bars near the hotel Istria, in the same time the street is very quiet.
Hope we'll welcome you again,
Regards,

For a good nights' sleep and hopping onto the metro, this hotel is perfect. Also walking distance to Fondation Cartier museum, good raclette and seafood restaurants. Little toiletries, soft bed and mini-fridge in room in case you stock snacks/drinks.

Room tip: Higher floor to the back, nice view of rooftops and good light.

Dear "Minerva H",
Thank you very much for your comment, we appreciate !
Also, thank you for mentioning two of your sources of joy : "Fondation Cartier museum" and "good raclette"... French food will remain fantastic against all odds ;)
Seriously, you're definitely right : one of the best raclette parisian restaurants (and also sea food restaurant) is near the Hotel Istria. Lucky we are.
We look forward to welcoming you again,
Regards,
Charlotte, CRM

Location was good for restaurants and right next to a tube station. Air conditioning worked well in a very hot week in Paris. Room faced the rear court yard so was quiet. Hotel is modern.

Breakfast was very basic for the money. Room safe was difficult to access so gave up. Main room light didn't work and even though I reported it, it never got fixed. Rooms used an access key that you had to give back when leaving the hotel each time. With regular changes of front desk staff, anyone could ask for your room key.

Room tip: Choose a room that faces the court yard

I'd stayed in a few areas of Paris during Euro 2016, but found Montparnasse to be by far the best, so went back to this area a month later with the wife.

Hotel Istria is very well located there, right beside the Raspail metro station, and within a 5/10 minute walk from others linking you to anywhere in Paris, including the RER 'B' 10 minutes walk away which links directly from Charles De Gaulle (10 euro, 45 minutes train) and Orly airports. From other nearby metro stations you can reach the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Louvre in less than 20 minutes, or Sacre Coeur and Montmatre in just over 30.

Istria isn't a big hotel, your typical narrow 3 or 4 story building sandwiched between some apartments. Rooms are typically small (I was booked in a 'superior'), with room to walk around a double bed, dressing table and open front wardrobe. Our room had a safe (free), tea and coffee maker, flat screen tv (all French channels), and an en suite (sink, toilet, corner shower with curtain). It also had a very good (free) wi-fi. Maids were in every day except Sunday. Windows to the street. Small 2 person lift to each floor. Istria is in a quiet street so outside noise was minimal, but the rooms are very close together with paper thin walls so if you like a lie in you better hope the neighbours do as well.

Didn't do breakfast, but there are lots of eating options about 5 minutes away towards Montparnasse tower.

You can't fault the Istria if you get it for the right price, it doesn't have a lot of amenities, but it's clean and you're not going to spend any time in it anyway. Asides the excellent proximity to transport links it is also right in pedestrian friendly Montparnasse, only metres from Montparnasse's beautiful walled cemetery, and 10 minutes walk to Luxembourg Gardens & Palace or The Catacombs. I paid 250 euro for 4 nights in mid August room only which I thought was very reasonable for Paris - it cost me twice that during Euro 2016.

I would certainly stay here again at this price.
