Nice hotel but could do with a few tweaks

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 15 Aug 2024
This really is a lovely hotel in a great location and we had a great stay, however the hotel is in need of a little updating, the biggest criticism was the over bath shower, there was no rail for the shower to hang on so you had to stand in the corner and hose yourself down behind a rather small shower screen. It was very hot whilst we were there and a walk in shower would've been lovely. This said the beds were amazing and it was very quiet. I would recommend this hotel but as said I think there are a few tweaks needed to make it more enjoyable.

Our recent stay at this hotel was disappointing in many aspects, despite its fantastic location, one of the best views from the roof top and great Parisian flavor.

The hotel clearly has potential (location, charm, building) but needs a refresh.

The interior is dated, and upon arrival, there was a bad sewer smell in the bathroom, which only disappeared after a few showers. While the beds were comfortable and the linen clean, the dark corridor outside our room served as a storage area for bed linen carts, adding to the overall lack of tidiness.

Additionally, the elevator was out of service for two days during our stay. Although taking the stairs could have been a good way to stay fit, the persistent smell made it an unpleasant experience.

The breakfast was another letdown. No black tea was available for several days, only herbal and green tea, despite our repeated requests. The bread selection was nice, but the coffee quality was poor. The staff in the breakfast room were inattentive and seemed disengaged. They did not refill empty plates and needed to be reminded several times by hotel guests.

We also planned to visit the rooftop restaurant, but it was booked for a private party, which fell below my expectations.

Overall, given the price, the experience was far from satisfactory. This hotel has potential but needs significant improvements in both service and amenities.

Dear , although I understand that your experience did not live up to your expectations, I thank you nonetheless for sharing these criticisms on specific topics on which we can improve day by day . I feel sorry for your experience of the breakfast , this certainly helps us understand what more stars could be brought in . Too bad about the lift , but we have two , despite the fact that you preferred to make some extra physical effort , the second lift was always at your disposal . The charm suited to the typical Parisian surfaces that do not allow for much space , small spaces but comfort , for this sometimes , a few trolleys of laundry that is used to refresh the rooms . Nonetheless, I hope you have not completely lost confidence and let yourself go to a second opportunity to experience the Rochechouart. Dounia - Guest Relation Manager

Extremely good location for Montmartre and Pigalle. Very low service in the breafkast area, with barely one or two waiters. They simply do not put out enough food for the guests, and there were repeated complaints about that. It seems silly to risk a bad review for a few more eggs, jam and ham but that is what happened. The coffee machine did not make capuccinos or anything with milk because of a malfunction... which we had to find out after trying three times! Put a notice and avoid the waste, that would be our suggestion. For the rest, this is a quaint hotel, not updated, with old bathroom areas but on the plus side, we slept soundly and the staff was efficient and kind. I would not stay there again, unless I had to be in the Montmartre area. If you choose to, I would recommend the junior suite as it is the same area of a double deluxe.

Breafkast was poor, lacking in food and inconsistent. They had deliciously good bread and then no bacon or very little scrambled eggs... We literally woke up earlier to make sure we ate well the second day because we realised they were not replenishing the trays. When food goes, it goes.

Room tip: If you have to stay at this hotel, choose the bigger room always.

Dear Lallum35,

I apologize for your bad experience which doesn't not reflect our level of service. You can be sure that I will pull your review up to our food and beverage manager to improve us.

Concerning the hotel, it was entirely renovated 4 years ago. We have recreated the style of the 1930's !

I'm happy to know that you enjoyed our location, near two metro stations and in the heart of Paris.

I wish you a good day.
Sweet regards from Paris,

Justine - assistant guest relation manager

Lovely boutique hotel with unique personality and décor, personalized service, prime location and a local flair.

Clean rooms, comfy beds, great water pressure and friendly staff. Walking distance to many cafes and Metro stops. Roof top bar offers amazing views of Paris.

I will absolutely stay here again, and with how many amazing hotels there are in Paris that is saying a lot! Lovely comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast, and a fun secret club right downstairs. Ask to stay in a room with a view of Sacre Coeur - worth the upgrade.

All in all a good trip with a few improvements needed. Would score 3.5
Pros-
Comfortable quiet nights sleep - bed lovely !
Atmospheric
Incredible views from our room over the sacrecour
Hotel accommodated the closed bar with some complementary champagne on the roof
Helpful reception staff
Good location for station etc.

Cons
- small room with a bit of wear and tear above what would be acceptable to the paintwork
- bathroom was quite dark and smelt a bit damp or mouldy which I wouldn’t have tolerated for a longer stay…
- the restaurant and bar was closed for a private function and we weren’t told ahead of the stay which was very inconvenient and part of why we booked the hotel was somewhere nice for pre dinner drinks!

Hi, It is mainly thanks to these words of yours that we can improve day by day, especially to give you more and more special experiences . Yes, of course, we apologize for the unpleasant smells that the historicity of the hotel brings with it , historicity but also charm , a purely Parisian charm that is agreed with the typical Parisian superci that do not leave much physical space , but we tried to give more space to comfort . For the restaurant I would like to turn this into an excuse to come back soon and dive into the culinary experience of Maggie. See you soon Charlotte . Dounia, Guest relation manager
