Nice valentines stay!

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 18 Feb 2024via mobile
Overall this isn’t a bad hotel, just not the nicest; but you can’t complain too much for the price point,

Cleanliness, ok. No major issues, but we’ve likely been spoilt in our previous hotel experiences so stains on the carpets, grimey bathrooms and toilet wasn’t expected.

Rooms are fairly small, but for Paris this is to be expected. Nice having the balcony overlooking Sarce Coer.

Rooftop has a great view, would be nice to have a few drinks up there in the evening but unfortunately it smelt quite bad up there.

Staff are all very friendly and happy to help.

My main gripe being that upon arrival I had to pay an additional €200 deposit (supposedly for the mini bar [which was empty], or for if we used the hotel restaurant) which we then were told would be refunded within 10 minutes of checkout; now to be told it’ll be back with us in 2-3 business days.

Overall the hotel is nice, area is about a 5 min walk to monmartre and Pigalle so you’re spoilt for choice with local eateries. Just make sure to budget for the additional cost with the deposit which isn’t advertised.

Dear Samuel , I thank you for your beautiful words and for the unsatisfied ones I am very sorry. The deposit of 200€ is only an amount that is blocked thanks to the bank imprint that you donated when you checked in. I am sorry that this seemed unfair to you but pre-authorisation is a practice that is usual in all hotels. The breathtaking view from the rooftop due to the not so stable weather in Paris , is one that you can only enjoy with a cocktail during the summer season . Why not give yourself a second chance at the Rochechouart to discover the magic of the rooftop bar and especially all that the hotel has in store for you. I look forward to welcoming you back , here , in Paris . Dounia , Guest Relation manager

We had the most wonderful stay at Hotel Rochechouart for our wedding anniversary. It was the perfect getaway from London. We were so well looked after by the team, who also treated us with several generous romantic gestures during our stay, in honour of our special occasion. We were extremely grateful for the thoughtful treatment, led by Guest Relations Manager, Dounia. The entire team was warm, friendly and made it an extremely pleasant trip. The hotel is stunningly beautiful, with cool but elegant Parisian design and the room was very spacious. The restaurant and bar were also fab, with great drinks and a cool local crowd. Would stay again on our next trip without question!

Dear Kate , I am very honoured by these beautiful words. Words that move me greatly and make me very proud . It was a great pleasure for me to take care of you and pamper you as only the Rochehcouart family knows how to do . These are words that I will immediately share with the team for whom it was a real pleasure to welcome you and many more times. I am happy that you followed my advice in trying the charm of the Rochechouart Restaurant and its delicate dishes. How about coming back soon ? I look forward to it Dounia , Guest Relation manager

I chose this hotel for my partner's 40th birthday because of all the positive reviews. Unfortunately, I couldn't see what inspired such high reviews.

The rooms are incredibly dark and dated, and though I expected the room to be small (it is Paris afterall), the suite could have done with a lot more space.

Housekeeping left a lot to be desired, there were strands of hair in the sheets on the night we arrived , unfortunately we arrived late and night and couldn't get housekeeping to change the sheets. We had to specifically ask that the room be cleaned daily and even then, a poor job was done. I had spilled coffee on a surface and returned to the same spilt coffee even after the room was allegedly cleaned. The shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom was never replaced either despite housekeeping attending.

On the plus side, the hotel did a wonderful job arranging balloons & flowers to surprise my partner as per my request and the area is wonderful for good transport links, a short walk to sacre coeur and nice little cafes all around.

This hotel, once again, requires a significant fresh-up. The fashionable, “place-to-be” allure it acquired around 5 or 6 years ago after a major renovation has faded. Our room was nearly worn-out. Much like some of the furniture, paint, carpets, and curtains in the
hotel and restaurent. Despite this, it still pretends to be part of the league of trendy hotels but has been overtaken by the many other hotels that open every year in Paris.

On the plus side, the staff is friendly. Additionally, it's worth noting that the pricing isn't as steep as in other new hotels, so considering the price-quality ratio is important.

Room tip: Public parking at 400 m.

Dear, it was a real pleasure to welcome you and take care of your stay. The Rochechouart is renowned for its historical beauty, since 1925, when it was first opened, it has also been renovated over time with a few modern touches, but always remembering the decor, colours and materials appreciated in the good old days. I am very sorry that it was not to your taste and that you were dissatisfied. The Rochechouart is also on trend thanks to the different places of entertainment such as the Mikado , and fine and particular cuisine such as the restaurant or the particular 'Citron et Huitres' . Not forgetting the breathtaking panorama the hotel boasts. I hope you might give it a second chance in discovering the Rochechouart, I'm sure you won't be sorry. See you soon . How did this hotel receive a Travelers' Choice award? We just returned from 3 days at the Hotel Rochechouart and this is the first review I have been inclined to write in over a decade. I was traveling with my husband and 11 year old daughter. We stayed in a Grand Junior Suite. Before writing this review I read the summary "combines modern comfort with distinguished services" I laughed out loud. The hotel rooms are the darkest I've ever experienced. Even my husband said "this place is a dump" and he is not picky. Didn't help that the walls are dark brown and so is the carpet. Old paint, old carpet. The toilet is in a small closet by itself, European, I know. They provided only one functional USB port which obviously provides challenges. The extra bed in our room was not made up. When I asked for sheets, I was told housekeeping had left until the morning, it was 8:10pm. When we returned at 11pm there was no one at the front desk, zero staff to contact until morning. Less than pleased that we paid for a "Grand Junior Suite" only to all sleep in the same king bed. Additionally, anyone could access the staircase in the lobby to the hotel rooms, no room key needed. This seemed unsafe since the front doors to the hotel were unlocked. A room key was required for the elevator. Pros: The surrounding side streets were charming, the view of Sacre Coeur from the room was impressive and if you are visiting during warmer months the rooftop has a wonderful view of the Eiffel Tower. We passed a number of hotels as we enjoyed the neighborhood and I kicked myself that I hadn't booked one of them. Stay in the area, just not here.

Dear, thank you for expressing your opinion and feelings about your stay . Opinion which I am very sad to read . I am truly sorry that the decor and layout of the rooms were not to your liking . The Rochehcouart is a hotel renowned for its historical beauty in its decor and choice of classic colours of a '30s Paris . Given the busy area in the Sacré-Coeur area, we take great care to maintain security; there is authorised access only for staff working there and our dear guests. I would, however, like to contact you in person to clarify your curiosity and resentment and above all to regain some stars in your eyes . I hope you might give us a second chance in discovering the Rochechouart , I am sure you will not be displeased . See you soon . Dounia , Guest Relation manager

The building looks nothing like they show in their pictures. It is a run down building on the outside, nothing like the bright picture they have shown. The building in general is outdated, needs refurbished, with walls and furniture scratched, chipped or just worn out. Friendly staff, including the bellhop/door man, very nice. Our room was pretty dirty to start. I cleaned a air vent in the ceiling because it was very think. All items were dusty. Bathroom and toilet room were clean. The breakfast was our worst meal of our trip. Cold, mush eggs and cold bacon, both were told to us that they should have been hot.
The location is in a area that seem shady to us, especially after looking at the pictures the hotel has posted. You can however get to the underground pretty easily. Overall we would not stay again.
