Excellent hotel, excellent service, fantastic view and wonderfull spa-feeling at the thalasso thermes! I spent one wonderfull week to relax and loved to walk on the beach after my health program. Beside service, cleanliness and locattion I also can highly recommend the food at breakfast, lunch or dinner. I already booked my next lovely week in 2019!

This very large hotel with modern facilities on the beach is about a 20 min walk from the old town. The first floor below ground is a sprawling spa and health complex, which accounts for the large number of people walking around in the bathrobes and slippers (provided by the hotel) at all times of day. It has several dining rooms and a wide variety of items for breakfast, including fresh squeezed orange juice.

Lovely welcome from a smiling receptionist who showed the room through a lot of different lifts and corridors. It is a bit confusing at first and I ended up walking a lot in the hotel... The valet parking was efficient and it is probably better to reserve a spot in advance. The room in itself is allright but it could certainly use some refurbishment. Too bad the turn down service was inconsistent. The seawater pool is really big for an indoor one and it is not too crowded. I found the pool towel system a bit complicated. There is a hefty supplement for another pool called Aquatonic. The location is really on the beach and not far from restaurants although walking all the way to the inside of Saint Malo is a bit far. I saw a hotel shuttle but apparently it was only for the train station said the valet.

There is nothing special to complain about however the overall feeling was that it was not worth the price compared to what it is or other 5 star hotels. Perhaps it was the fact that the thermes were extra so was breakfast and parking. True that other hotels do that, but not for the adjacent thermes, and the room price was high to begin with so overall it gave the impression that it was too much and unjustified. View from room was nice. I gave it a very good as average seemed insulting, but it was food, not very good, and it felt that the other 4 star hotels in the area would have been a better value for money.

We booked into Le Grand Hotel des Thermes as a last minute bit of luxury due to our boat being cancelled, as we had looked at the hotel website and it looked incredible!

We arrived at the door and the porter took
our luggage from us. The receptionist was very helpful and spoke good English.

We were then escorted to our room, by the porter who kindly carried our bags.

To access our room we had to go up in one lift, walk through a bar and down in a second lift, which was all very confusing and unnecessary but we were advised this was because it was made up of two buildings.

The smell within the corridors was horrible and very overwhelming, it smelt like warm cat food constantly.

We had a lovely view of the beach from our room but we had to keep the curtains closed as the wind was howling through the doors even when closed and also due to the fact people could see in when walking along the beach front.

On further inspection of our room, we decided that the hotel itself really wasn't worth the amount that we had paid (nearly €400 for a single night!)

The room wasn't particularly clean, it was very dusty and had stains all over the carpet. The workmanship of the room was done to a shoddy standard and not all of the spot lights were working.

To top it off, staff would knock on your door once and then walk in regardless of what you were doing or if you answered! Twice we had a lady walk into our room catching us completely off guard, the first time mid way through getting changed and the second time lying in bed. She knocked once and entered the room straight away without even giving us a chance to open the door ourselves, this was a complete invasion of our privacy!

The aquatique pool is not included in the price and to be able to use this pool alone it costs €34 per person! We went and had a look around the pool areas to see if it was worth the cost however it was so busy that it was difficult to do so and felt more like a leisure centre than a hotel.

We went back to our room and looked at the menu to consider room service however decided against this when we saw it was €17 for a sandwich and the choice was very limited despite the hotel having 3 restaurants inside.

The mini bar was also very expensive for what was inside and again we decided against using anything from within it!

The bed was okay comfort wise however it was made up of 2 single beds which caused a massive gap down the middle which wasn't very comfortable to lie on! It also only had 3 very thin pillows so we phoned reception and requested 3 more, after waiting for 45 minutes for them to arrive we phoned again and waited a further 15 minutes before we were actually given them.

Wouldn't recommend staying!
