The hotel staff (short and curly haired lady) in the reception wasn’t helpful and always gave us a blank stare when we were talking to her. She didn’t seem to understand English and made no attempts to provide any further help when asked. Firstly, when we told her that the phone in our room is not working, she just gave us a blank stare and said all phones are not working, is ok. She kept giving us a blank stare, so we gave up and had to live with needing to come down for every single thing we need because the phone wasn’t working. Secondly, for breakfast, they make you fry your own eggs, which is ok. But they serve breakfast until 11am during the weekends, and when we came down at 10.15am and there was barely anything left. There was only 1 egg left, and when we asked for more, she said that there’s no more and walked away. How could there be no raw eggs?! That’s the most basic thing. They need eggs for every dish and it’s highly impossible to not have any raw eggs left! The eggs are the only thing we can eat for breakfast as the rest are just bread. She insisted we eat the pre-mixed scrambled eggs instead, which of course we had no choice but didn’t really like. Next, when we asked her for help to get a taxi, we told her this one hour in advance. But when the time came for us to leave, she dismissively said to wait for 1-2mins. We waited for 5 mins, and when we asked her again, she said just wait for 10 mins and the cab is coming. We waited for 15 mins and still no cab! All she said to us was that they’re having a circulation problem. And all the time she was speaking to us in French, when she already knew we couldn’t speak French! I tried to use google translate but whatever she was saying, even after translation, still doesn’t make sense (logically). In the end, we just booked an Uber ourselves and we got the car in 2 minutes!! She could have just informed us to get a Uber instead of just muttering things in French which we didn’t understand. Really ruined our 3 days there and our impression of Bordeaux! Thankfully we moved to a different hotel and the difference in service level was stark! Our new hotel and experience with their staff made whatever time we had left in Bordeaux more enjoyable.
Never stay in this hotel if you don’t speak French. And if you want to have a good time in Bordeaux, stay away from this hotel!
