Having travelled a fair bit in my life, in my experience often (but not always) you get what you pay for. It is brand new, so no tired looking carpets or bathrooms here. It is in fact so new that my towels still have a lot of lint, which I find very unpleasant but not a deal breaker. The rooms are designed for the modern traveller: quite spacious with many wall outlets incl usb, minimal storage, no bathroom amenities, no tea/coffee facilities, no water glasses, no fridge.
The biggest cons for me are:
- location. This hotel is located a 10-15min walk from Gare st Jean and public transport which is a bit too far for my liking to be considered convenient. The nearest supermarche is also a 10min walk.
- the lack of air conditioning. The hotel advertises as having room aircon but what you actually get is a room temp adjuster for lack of a better description. The room can only get 3 degrees colder than the outside temperature, which seems ok until it’s >30 degrees outside. If I had known this I wouldn’t have booked this hotel.
