Stylish hotel in a building that was a former university. We stayed at the hotel for a week. However, incredibly mixed experience. I speak fluent french and my wife is french, so language was not a factor. Issues included:
1. Toilet seat in our room was broken (literally not connected to the toilet). Four days into the stay, it was still not fixed. When we complained for the third time, they jerryrigged the toilet seat to the toilet, but left the toilet seat cover ON THE FLOOR. They never came back to fix it.
2. Blinds on the hotel windows were broked the entire time we were at the hotel.
3. Twice during our stay, the failed to clean the room. Entirely. Both times, the front desk said there was nothing we could do and we would just have to accept it. Didn't offer a room switch, a price reduction, a complimentary drink - nothing. Not even an apology. When we asked to speak to a manager, we were told we couldn't - there are none - they have only one person working at the front desk, and no one else available to speak with. Refused to call the manager or to share the manager's email so that we could send them a message. Manager never reached out to us, so I assume the front desk person never told them, or they didn't care.
4. Asked the front desk for a restaurant recommendation. Response we received: "I don't know - why don't you look on the internet."
5. Gym - minor issue, but the gym is in a 3/4 sunk basement with windows that open on to a busy road. Whole rooms smells of car exhaust.
Other aspects of the service were great: incredible bartender with fantastic original cocktails, decent restaurant in a very nice outdoor patio. But I wouldn't be willing to stay here again given the service. I can deal with things that break - life happens. But repeated incidents of poor service in multiple areas, with no attempt to contact us or make it right is unacceptable.
