good location for exploring bordeaux

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Sept 2018via mobile
Stayed here for a week and have to agree with earlier reviews it is a bit weird but honestly for the price I paid for a week it was excellent value. The tram is 30 seconds walk away and only 5 stops takes you to the centre of bordeaux.get the tram C going to stade and get off at le grand parc.
The room was a good size and the air con worked perfectly. The kitchen is good if you are on a budget and the bathroom was good. Wi-Fi cut in and out but mostly worked well. Staff I found to be quite unfriendly it's as if they feel they don't need to help you as it's a 'residence' as opposed to a hotel. Every day I said hello walking through reception no one replied. My room was beside the metal staircase and it was sometimes a bit noisy. I would however stay here again as it is so close to the tram. Buy a ticket for 14 euro for 7 days this will save money. Enjoy bordeaux it's a beautiful place !

Staff very unhelpful and rude. I had just been discharged from hospital and asked if I could buy some milk. They left me waiting while they spoke in French and then said no. There are no shops close by to buy any . I think there main issue was that we weren’t paying for breakfast. I was feeling unwell so didn’t want to.

Hotel was a little tricky to find but once found and we checked in the room is very small. I booked for 4 adults (queen bed and a pull out sofa) - if i knew the sofa was right at the ground i would have booked a separate room. I had to ask staff 3 times for the extra 2 pillows as the sofa bed had nothing. When you enter the room you walk into the kitchenette. Small bar fridge was handy. Laundry was good but coin operated and was down a set of stairs. Breakfast was nice.

This hotel is not for everyone. The hotel occuplies part of a huge former industrial building in a neighborhood with not much else. It is far from the center of town, but not more than about a 15-minute ride on the excellent nearby tram. A little hard to find without a map app. Nothing to walk to, except a couple of small bar-type cafes with interesting features (one had a climbing wall; the other actual water surfing). The hotel bustles with young people and a very good front desk staff. Kind of fun, once we got used to the uniqueness of the experience.

The room was adequate, but very small and not particularly well lit. There was the advertised kitchenette (a small fridge and two-burner stove), but not really suitable for real cooking and no nearby market. The bathroom was small, but fine, with nice shower pressure. No room cleaning or towel changes, so not particularly suited for a long stay.

Altogether, we're happy we decided to continue with our 3-day reservation to stay there, but would probably not choose the experience, if we come to Bordeaux again.
