Spent 2 nights in August with the family (2 adults / 2 kids). Arrival on a Friday evening managed to get the last spot of parking in the managed Q car park underneath the hotel. Parking with a hotel discount was approx £20 for 24 hours. You can validate the ticket yourself with the scanner in the reception. Got a double bed with sofa bed, room itself was ok, but the bathroom with the toilet separate might not be to everyone liking. First night we had an alarm sounding from the car park which you can hear in the room, staff in the reception when asked if they could contact the car park management their response was they could not do anything ( surely if you get a discount in parking there the hotel must have some sort of relationship with the car park) but the attitude was dismissive. The alarm went on for a couple of hours.

Breakfast was busy and staff could not cope with it. Queues to get a table and buffet not replenished regularly unless asked. The staff on were doing all they could but the reality was that it was poorly managed and this was simply because of lack of staff. The Nespresso machines provided were not made for mass used and they kept braking down or needed regular refill but there was no staff available to check this. Even plates and cutlery was in shortages... in general don’t bother to pay for breakfast, not worth the stress they put you through !!!

Overall it’s a Novotel which is a mid class of the Accor group and was expecting a bit more but service was poor but it seems the hospitality is still trying to recover from the impact of COVID and this was clear with this Novotel.

Room was clean, Bathroom door kept sticking and took a while to force lock, scary FIRE HAZZARD (Rm 418). Long queues at Breakfast (20 min wait), then bottleneck for Toast, Eggs, Beans etc etc. When I mentioned to staff on check-out, very dismissive about it ! As someone who spends apx 100 nights a year in hotels, this was just poor, total lack of management. Suggest one goes to Witherspoon 1 min walk on corner for Brekkie - no long queues or ignorant staff!

Location excellent, very central for China Town (1 min), Gay Village (2 min walk), Piccadilly Train Station (apx 8-10 min walk), Oxford Rd Station (4 min walk), Curry mile 5 min Taxi (1 mile away), Deansgate 15 min walk). St Peter Street night life 4 min walk. Great curry house next door (Sangam), up market feel, buffet lunch & Sunday, separate Shisha smoke section area to rear.

Room tip: Upgrade to exec rooms, tried both standard and exec - marked difference.

Original room (337)was set out as a double instead of a twin room! Check-in was horrendous 40min in a qué with 1 member of staff on! Was allocated room (336) had stains on carpet, toilet door was loose/broken nearly got trapped in toilet! Bathroom small mirror had large crack across the middle which is a health & safety issue! Especially if the glass was to fall out & land on someone's foot you'd have a lawsuit on your hands! Towels were clean but when opened up they were all stained not very nice for your guests! The room & bathroom had loads of midgies/flies which bit us. The bedding was heavily starched which made us itch so we had to sleep on top of the beds! Also didn't sleep in the night with the noise with people shouting & slamming doors! This has put me off from staying at Novotel ever again

A group of friends came this Friday to Novotel for a hen party. Staff at reception are fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, very welcoming and helpful. Rooms are cosy and clean. Location, right in the city centre. 5 minutes walk from the northern quarter & Spinninfield restaurants and bars.
We had a great stay. We'll definitely be back!

Ps: Meeting&events rooms are good size and did accommodate all my party's special requests.
