As has been previously commented on the hotel is currently undergoing extensive renovations - one would suspect that this is the result of a period of neglect, which is a shame as the term 'faded glory' could have been coined for this hotel.
We were placed in a renovated room which, while old-fashioned, was a lovely place to be. With this being said it should also be noted that the cleaning could have been more thorough, that is not to say that the place was *dirty* per se but there were bits that had been forgotten about (bathroom shutters for example).
The food here was nice enough but was distinctly average for a hotel in such a prominent tourist location. In our opinion, the service was great with the only potential 'complaint' being not being asked how our stay was (a very small issue and had we not enjoyed it would not have stopped us commenting!)
As an aside please note that although parking is chargeable this hotel is in the city centre and usable after you check out which is a real bonus.More
