We’d been traveling around Ireland for a week staying in various hotels throughout the country. The Talbot was the most expensive one we booked yet somehow was the worst. I see no indication as to why this hotel is listed as 4*

I did not even use the shower as the shower head was completely filthy with caked on grime and there was mold growing in the bathroom ceiling. The bathroom sink had cracks that also had grime collecting in them.

Room was tiny as was the lift. You could not fit more than two people in the lift at once if they had luggage.

Bed was very uncomfortable and the temperature in the room could not be changed. Along the outside window of our room there were very bright fluorescent lights that illuminate the hotel’s exterior and the curtains do little to prevent this light shining into your room all night long.

Hallways were incredibly loud with doors from nearby rooms slamming until around 3am. At 5:30am children and parents were coming out of their rooms screaming and running up and down the halls and slamming doors in the process. This continued nonstop from 5:30am until we checked out.

I understand that this was a busy holiday weekend so noise is to be expected but this place was louder than a very busy hotel we stayed at in Dublin in the Temple Bar area. At least the Dublin hotel provided ear plugs and was clean! Glad to check out of this one.

Just back from a three night stay in the Talbot. The location is excellent just minutes from the town. We had dinner one evening and enjoyed it, breakfast was excellent self service with plenty of choice. The room itself was spacious and our room overlooked the river, it was cleaned every day to a high standard. We also used the pool jacuzzi etc which was very enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed the large lobby where you could have lunch and watch the world go by. We went to John Barry’s across the road for a few drinks and it was very friendly local bar. Looking forward to my next stay.

Everything was great, we even had bunk beds for the kids to kill themselves on, the breakfast was busy but everything was there. Louise Jones and her daughter in the bar sang beautifully.

The only problem was the view, really they should frost the window!

Room Tip: book a table in the bar, it gets full

From the word go this was a perfect break. from the value of the price to the overall experience. We arrived to a very warm welcome a fabulous lobby. There is parking across the street and you are given a ticket so you dont have to pay any charges. There is both lift and stairs and after 2 meals you will need to use the stairs to work of some of the beautiful food. we had a meal included in the price and the restaurant is a must if you have time. again the food choice and staff make it very pleasant. The room was great plenty big and the bathroom also . there was plenty of fresh towels and the room was very clean all you could ask for. tea and coffee making facilities along with tv. The room was cleaned and restocked daily so you could not ask for more. The bar staff are great have time for everyone no matter how busy and the food in the bar a more wide variety and well priced is as good as the restaurant. nothing was too much trouble.

Room Tip: room at the front has a fab sea view we had room 218
