The tour guide, Peter, was entertaining. The tour itself was just OK, except for the last holograms and talking pictures. It was a nice history lesson, but I really wanted to see brewing going on. Next time I'll just go to a pub and order a flight of beers.

Probably the best brewery tour I’ve done in quite some time. This brewery no longer brews beer here (having relocated its operations to Dublin a few years ago), but it’s on the site of a Franciscan Monestary, so beer has been brewed here for hundreds of years. The brewery itself dates to 1710. The tour is a really well put-together multimedia experience, walking through the old brewery and getting a heap of interesting information about the brewing process. There’s even a portrait gallery where all the portraits talk to you and to each other. Very well done. Of course, there’s also the obligatory pint at the end, which makes anything worthwhile.

We are big fans of Smithwick's beer, and when we visited Kilkenny years ago the company did not offer a tour. We are so glad they now offer the Smithwick's Experience. The technology used in the tour is impressive, and the narrative offered by our guide was excellent. The beers offered at the end of the tour weren't bad either (wink, wink).

My husband and I stopped by for a tour in the afternoon. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and professional throughout our entire experience. Michael was our guide, and he was awesome; he was very knowledgeable and polite. The tour itself is very unique and enjoyable. You get the opportunity to step back in time and truly understand the history and craft of one of Ireland’s trademark beverages. And the best part is a free pint of Smithwick’s at the end! We have already decided that we will be back for another tour as soon as possible. I highly recommend adding this place to your list of stops in Kilkenny.

Highly advised to taxi in for this one. The staff was friendly and informative. There was no real wait once we arrived (Thursday around noon). The tour has a guide and also some pretty cool audio and video holographic information. Lots of historic information and some interactive demonstrations. We were able to taste the wort and hand crank an old grinder.

Of course the best part of the tour was the free pint at the end. You have the option to upgrade your pint to a flight so you can taste the other beers. They have a lovely covered beer garden, and we met some nice people from all over the world. No one rushed us, and you are able to purchase more beer if you want to stay and relax awhile.

Make sure you save enough time to explore the town of Kilkenny. It’s easily walkable and there are lots of shops and pubs to visit. The people in Kilkenny are very nice and genuinely caring.
