Stayed here for just the one night. Great central location, although the car park is a challenge to access as you have to negotiate the one way system to get into it. The hotel room was clean and more than adequate for our needs, if a bit on the dated side. There's a cosy lounge bar and a larger bar bistro next door. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Room tip: Rooms 2 and 3 face onto the street so a bit noisy in the morning with traffic.

Used to visit here often for light lunch as found it very reasonable but not any more .Visited today for lunch ordered small nachos which is £3.95 for portion with choice of topping but when we got bill they charged £9.90 plus £5.90 for chilli topping so prices are not as they say and they also wanted £6.95 for one portion of lemon meringue pie which is disgraceful .I used to be a regular customer but not now I will go elsewhere. Please be aware of extra charges

We used to eat regularly in the A & G because they offered good food that was great value. Not any more! The food prices have gone through the roof.

We'll be finding another place to eat. Not recommended.

Left The Growler pub further up the street, extremely unhappy after a cocktail issue and poor customer service from staff. Called into the A &G not realising it was owned by the same people until we saw the logo on the till screen. But what different staff and service! Even although it wasn’t their issue they listened, apologised, escalated it to management and offered a goodwill gesture by way of apology and reassured us that this was not what their group of pubs wanted to be remembered for. Well done A & G and thank u for dealing with it the way The Growler should have done in the first place.

Janet, thank you for your review. Firstly can I apologise for your Growler experience. I have spoken to the team there and they accept they got it wrong on this occasion and they too offer their sincerest apologies. The Growler team assure you that this is not what we are about and urge you to come and try us again. I am really pleased that everyone in the Ayrshire & Galloway went out their way to right a wrong and that you recognised this in a 5 star review. We are only ever as good as the people who work with us and are especially proud of everyone in the Ayrshire and Galloway Hotel today. Thank you from all of us.
