I would have to say this is a really great hotel. If your looking for a place to stay I would totally recommend this hotel. It had a quite reasonable price for what they gave us A bedroom with one double bed with a couch a flatscreen and it had a interconnecting room with two singles and another flatscreen with a lovely bathroom in it but the hallways were a let down. breakfast buffet was lovely but basic. Staff were amazing and very accommodating. They truly made the stay worthwhile.

Spent the weekend at this Hotel on a business trip . It looks impressive enough from the outside and the reception area was large and run by efficient staff.
The rooms were clean enough but generally the whole Hotel is a bit dated looking and needs thorough redecoration. Some areas had threadbare patches on the carpets and there was evidence of quick paint jobs to cover something up. The interior resembled the decor on a 1960`s cruise liner and updating and continuing with this theme would change The Mercure from average to very good

From the moment we arrived we found staff very friendly and helpful, special mention to Alex the duty manager who you can clearly see loves his job and is a credit to the hotel. The room was very nice, clean and great views. I would suggest they take the metal shelving out the bathrooms as when it gets wet gets rusty and looks horrible. The hotel has been getting done up so hopefully that will be included in the upgrade. Price of the drink at the hotel was a little steep and I think if the price was dropped a little it would be busier. I was a bit dissapointed in the breakfast. We were there for a wedding and the wedding meal was lovely, staff were all nice and professional.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay in the Mercure Ayr
Yes it's decor is in need of refresh, but if you want 5* then expect to pay 5* prices
We had dinner on the Saturday night in the hotel and the food was of a very high standard! Even better than the number 1 rated restaurant in the town ! Breakfast was excellent and plenty to choose from and very fresh
But the thing that sets the hotel above the rest is the staff, from checking in to housekeeping we were delighted by the professional, helpful manner. A special mention must go to the 3 young male waiters in the restaurant. All went above and beyond to make us very welcome
We will definitely return
