If you are on a golf trip this is a good location. There were sixteen of us on our annual golf trip last week. The hotel helped us arrange the golf courses and book tee times and they were well organised with a separate dining area for us with hearty food after our days out and a replenishing breakfast. Good bar with real ale was a bonus and facilities to watch the Ryder Cup in a separate room which they set up for us. Plenty of parking too.

Room tip: There isn't a lift so if you have golf clubs use their storage room on the ground floor unless you leave them in your car.

Couldn’t have been looked after any better, party of 20 golfers from Newcastle who must’ve increased bar profits! Breakfast was superb, beds comfortable, beer chilled and hospitality second to none!
Easy to organise with Paul, who made our whole stay run as smoothly as possible, it’s the only place to stay in ayr as far as our group are concerned.

Three friends and I stayed at this hotel on a recommendation from my nephew. He doesn't always get things right but his assessment of this hotel as an excellent place to stay was absolutely spot on.

The first thing that struck us about the Abbotsford was its location. Situated in a quiet and attractive part of Ayr, it's within easy walking distance of the town centre, the beach and two of the town's three golf courses.

The hotel itself is an attractive, characterful and well-kept building both inside and out. The rooms we occupied were pleasant, well-sized, scrupulously clean, in good decorative order and very reasonably priced.

Breakfast was included as part of the room cost. Suffice it to say that we enjoyed our cooked breakfasts so much that we chose to dine at the hotel on every night of our stay. It was a good choice too - both the quality of the food or the portion sizes more than met our expectations.

Best of all, though, was the warmth of the welcome we received from the owners and staff. Their friendly and helpful attitude was much appreciated by all of us and contributed in no small measure to what was a very enjoyable holiday.

.just returned from a wonderful short break at the Abbotsford Hotel, of which we have stayed on numerous occasions over the past 12 yrs or more. it is a beautiful traditional family run hotel and the owner 'Paul' is so welcoming along with the staff, all very friendly, rooms are spotlessly clean, spacious and has everything for a comfortable stay inc tea/coffee making facilities, clothes press, t.v and hair dryer! Jason the Chef offers a fantastic varied menu which is delicious and served with great presentation, on top of all that it has a lovely cosy bar which is frequented by locals too, good selection of wines spirits and craft beers!!! nothing is too much trouble. this hotel is suitable for anyone and is ideal for golfers and Racegoers alike. Paul is always more than happy to help with any requirements you may have. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS DELIGHTFUL HOTEL.

Room tip: no lift but staff always willing to help and acommodate, just a 15 minute stroll to both town centre and local seafront promenade
