I can honestly say that this hotel is like going home from home and I don't understand why people feel the need to be so awful. My family and I have been coming to this hotel for the past 8 years and have always been greeted with a warm welcome, the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and are great with the children..even dressed up for Halloween last year for breakfast!!! We ate at the hotel 5 out of the 6 nights we stayed, food was always roasting hot and if we did have to wait there was apologies...although none were needed. Breakfast is lovely...they cater to all your needs Inc the children's. The price you pay for a 5 night stop is really good..we always stay for 1 extra night because we like it that much!!! Rooms are cosy, warm and comfy. Yes the carpets are a little worn and sometimes tv signal goes off a tad but you are in the middle of the country in Scotland!!! I would call this hotel 'rustic'...I love this hotel, it's location and staff...I continue to book every year here with the rest of our family and will do so for the forseeable future. I would like to thank all the staff at The Atholl Arms for all you do to make our stay so enjoyable for the last 9 years and many years to come.xxx

We have just returned from the Atholl Arms after a week's break, 6 Adults, 4 young children, and a dog. I cannot believe reading all the negative results regarding the hotel and staff. We were made to feel welcome and the staff wre so helpful and could not do enough for you, reception, cleaners, and waiting on and bar staff. With having the children we ate most nights in the middle room, and the food was delivered promptly, and it was always tasty and piping hot. At the bar we had to wait a few times but this was because there were people before us being served - remember patience is a virtue!!! I you feel that you are being ignored, try talking to the staff, they may be really busy, from abroad, or shy, so make a point of acknowledging them. The rooms were fine, no complaints from my daughters and their families, or my wife and myself. Also the breakfasts were lovely, all in all the charging band is not over the top, yes in some places carpets may be worn, but what can you expect with the amount of people and pets using it, lets be sensible you are not going to fit a new carpet all through, because a small area is warn. I really believe the the Atholl Arms gives value for money, and that the staff will try their very best to help you, but please treat them as you would expect to be treated. The only concern we had and it is not the Hotel's fault were guests parking cars not in the marked areas and being selfish and taking up two spaces. Once again many thanks to the Hotel and staff helping us enjoy our family break, well worth the 350 miles there and back.

My wife and I stayed here for a single night and while the area of Blair Atholl is lovely, the same cannot be said about the hotel. Firstly for £110 for the night the hotel is drab and in need of some TLC, room was small and creaked at every turn. TV was pointless as could not pick up a reception and even if we could we had a remote contdol with one battery. Everything just lacked that little bit of finesse that lesser rated hotels have provided to us in the past. The biggest dissapoint though was the lack of customer service. This was suppose to be a surprise Birthday weekend and as the hotel states it is per friendly I thought fantastic, how wrong I was! If you are a pet owner I highly suggest considering elsewhere. We were informed that pets under no circumstances can be left alone in the room at all, despite this not being detailed on their website. I was informed that my dog could not be left alone while my wife and I went out for an hour or two (despite several hotels in the past never having had an issue with this) this put us in position of shock as we had purchased tickets for the enchanted forrest and now were in a position of not being able to go. If you are a pet owner I am sure you understand your pet is a part of the family. If we could havr taken our dog to the even we would have but we KNEW previously he was not allowed but not that he hotel did not allow either. The manager informed us "you can leave him in the car" no sir I'm sorry but we were not prepared to leave him in a car in low temperatures in the dark and with no fresh air. Upon this I was told whats the difference from leaving in the car to the hotel room? A BLOODY BIG DIFFERENCE!!! space, warmth, comfort, light, food, water etc. As a result and after much discussion, and tears/anger from.my wife we were told we were being done a favour as it would be allowed this once. HOWEVER should there be a complaint from either room either side of ours, I would be expected to pay not only our room but both other rooms!!! Alomg with come breakfast the next morning our dog would have to be put in the car. Total farce from beginning to end. Do NOT advertise as pet friendly and then state no where other than a room handbook that dogs are not to be left alone. Contradicting yourelves by saying dogs must not be left alone in rooms but that also there are not allowed in the dining are. So if we had stayed for breakfast how was this to be achieved? Were we dining al fresco?

Blair Atholl is a lovely area but this hotel is to be avoided, substantially better 3 star hotels out there for the money, who will actually make you feel welcome. Safe to say will not be returning and will not recommend to others.

We've been to Atholl Arms hotel for one night, thanks to a dear friend recommendation, what a disappointment...
The hotel is a lovely old building, with Scottish carpets and tapestries, charming.
We stayed in room 102, obviously one of the oldest rooms, advertised as a superior double for 110£/night.
The room was very small, no charm, just 2 single beds next to one another.
The bathroom is old and dirty, paint is getting off the wall and joints are full of fungus (see pictures)
When we asked the manager if we were really in a superior double he said yes, and mentioned that we could go to the next town and would find even more expensive rooms for smaller spaces...
Breakfast was OK and the waitresses were very nice.
Another positive point is the bar next to the hotel, very typical, food OK.
It appears there are way more lovely rooms, tough luck : for 110£ you don't get one.
We're leaving with a big disappointment, but heading to the next steps of our trip.

Yes, this place ticks the box for the tourist who wants to feel like they are staying in the heart of Scotland covered in Tartan and surrounded by swords and stuffed animals but it fails on quality and value for money.
Our bedroom was very tired, the bedcover was dull, faded and in need of a clean however the actually sheets were exceptionally clean. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and every spring was felt. The bathroom was large, old-fashioned and in desperate need of repair. The bedside clock was dirty and stained.
The entire room just felt way too tired for the price.
The bar meal was good but the food lacked taste. The vegetables were lukewarm and bland.
The lounge with log fires and comfy sofas were most welcome at the end of the day.
The breakfast was very poor. Dishwater coffee and juice, dry blackpudding and even toast that looked and tasted tired. The breakfast menus were ragged and in need of a clean or reprint.

The price was far too high for the services and standard offered.

Would we return..... no.
