“A special place”

Staying at the cottage was a wonderful experience. Wish we had longer. The cottage was immaculately presented. It was very comfortable, with everything we needed close to hand. Situated right on the lock, we were able to watch the canal traffic which was more than expected. My wife's great grandfather was a lock keeper here and it appears we might have stayed in their house. Either way, it was special to stay here and walk in their footsteps. Oh, and seeing Lock Ness was good too!

“charming cottage in an outstanding location”

the cottage has been beautifully renovated and is really very charming. It has its own character and is very confortable. The setting is really outstanding : it is not too isolated because there is a group of 3 or 4 cottages, very well located (10 minutes from Inverness town center), the canalsides are so well taken care of (beautiful grass and flowers) the view is magnificent on mornings, and there are many boats passing by every day, which is so picturesque! One can walk or ride a bike along the canalsides up till Inverness, and actually a lot of people do it! very lively without being busy, a perfect balance. We stayed one week (after a whole week up north in the Highlands) and we visited around, a lot of things to do.

Liked best: the settings
Liked least: the crossing through inverness to the east side (culloden, cawdor castle, fort george...) which is quite difficult, a lot of traffic jam

“Perfect location”

What a gorgeous , peaceful location. The cottage was warm and welcoming, with very comfortable beds. Bathroom could do with a soap dish next to the bath but otherwise it was all beautifully appointed and freshly painted. Some washing powder under the sink would have been appreciated, and wifi connection in this day and age would be good, but would not deter me from recommending or boooking the cottage again. Lovely walks along the canal paths, and just watching the boats, kayaks, rowers etc on the canal and river. 10 minutes drive into the nearest supermarket with everything needed for our 4 day stay.

Had a lovely couple of days here. House is very comfortable, lovely decor, comfy beds, great kitchen. Good location, quiet, but easy access to Inverness for amenities. Nice view of canal and boats. Lovely meal at Oakwood restaurant (2 mins walk). Enjoy drinking our morning coffee sitting on the garden bench in the Sept sun, watching the boats. Will definitely return.
