Living locally, I visit Holm Mills every couple of years. Each time I hope for improvement but experience none. The shop is so outdated - what must visitors think! And full of low quality clothes and shoes.

The cafe does have a pleasant lounge area, but I was disappointed with my dry-ish scone and outraged that a single portion jar of jam is priced at 50 pence!

Thumbs down again!

Went for visit today and decided to go to cafe for cup of tea and roll (11:00). After waiting for about 10 mins eventually got served by what I can only describe as a very rude person. She took our order (1 X bacon roll and 1 X poached egg on toast) then we asked for 2 coffees. She got the cups out and then took our money - no please or thank you. Then went searching in bin for something and eventually poured our coffee. Sat at our table to drink lukewarm coffee and eventually food came after 10 mins by that time coffee finished. Poached eggs had been placed on top of toast with butter at side and bacon very hard. Will never be back!

I love shopping at James Pringle. Quality products and a huge range of stock at great prices. The staff are excellent, so helpful in every respect. The restaurant is good too, always enjoyed the food and service. The high tea on Thursday night is really lovely, the cakes are delicious. We've been shopping at Pringles for many years, love it.

Our tour group leader brought us to the Pringle store. It would have been nice to have learned something about the life and times of the people that worked here. There are some historic exhibits and some are very good. They could really make this a worthwhile stop by adding a guided historical tour in addition to the shopping. If they have such a tour, we surely missed it. Instead what we get here is a huge store packed to the gills with goodies to make any tourist shopper happy. This was a missed opportunity for us to learn about the history of the Pringle works in more detail. What a loss for them and us.

What people don't realise is that this was a weaving business founded by James Pringle, an Invernessian. It is NOT, nor does it pretend to be, anything to do with the James Pringle based in the Borders. But if people want to think it is, then let them. It was a family business until recently when Edinburgh Woolen Mill took over.
