“Perfect Flat in a Perfect Location”
Reviewed 31 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We all loved this place! The entire apartment was charming from the door on. Glenn provided everything we could possibly need and more. All three bedrooms are a nice size. There is only one bath but we never had a problem with that. Plenty of space in the kitchen and living areas. Be aware that this is on the second level so there are stairs to navigate. There is a bit of street noise (mainly on the weekends) that comes in through the windows but nothing too terrible. A light sleeper may want to take the back bedroom.

The location couldn't have been better. We were in Glasgow for World's Irish Dance Championships which were held in City Centre area. This was just far enough away to avoid all the crowds but close enough to get us anywhere we wanted to go via subway quickly. Hillside station is right across the street and the subway is so easy to navigate. Lots of shopping and food places within easy walking. The botanical gardens are right up the street.

We'll be back in 2018 for the championships and hope that this place is available then.

“Good place to stay”
Reviewed 30 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We stayed here as we were attending a family wedding and stayed here for 3 nights. The stairs in the hallway of the building are stone and worn in the middle so there is a slight dip so be careful. The building is quite close to the main road end so is not very far to walk to the shops and restaurants which is good. The parking is quite bad as you might have to park a few streets away however quite a few streets the parking is free which is good as was expecting it to be paid for or permit holders only.

The hallway of the apartment is big with high ceilings and all the rooms lead off it. The kitchen is big with a dining table in which is next to the door to the living room from the kitchen (there is two doors into the living room one from the hall and the other from the kitchen). There is a big window which is original and gives a good view of the back of the other buildings and garden areas. The living room is big with two sofa' s and two chairs in the window bay. The room is decorated nicely however the one issue would be that the fireplace isn't original which is a shame as this would possibly make the place better as most of the other features seem original. The bathroom is nice and it is split into two parts. The first part is just storage and the door doesn't have a lock or shut properly so you will need to come up with a system if you stay here that if the door is shut over then it is in use. There is another door in between which does lock to there is some privacy. The bathroom is original with a nice old bath tub. The toilet is directly under the window sill so make sure the window is shut otherwise you will show your bum if it open as it is a tall low window. The shower is ok, the curtain will tend to stick to you when showering and it is kind of claustrophobic and the shower can be temperamental with the heat sometimes.

The room that we stayed in was the one next to the living room, the door was stiff to open and close as it was dragging on the carpet. The room was good, no wardrobe just a free standing hanging rail with plenty of hangers on which was good. The bed was comfy and the duvet was good as too were the pillows., There was a dresser and chair in the window space. The only problem we found with the room was that it was cold as the radiator didn't seem to work.

Overall I would say that this is a nice place to stay, it is very close to the main road with transport links, shops and restaurants. It is nice and quiet, the apartment is warm, full of original features and spacious rooms. Parking can be an issue.

“A perfect base for exploring Glasgow”
Reviewed 29 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

The flat's location just off Byres Road in the West End is faultless; it takes 30 seconds to reach the subway or a bus stop. Equally the immediate area is packed with quality shops, bars, cafes and restaurants to suit every taste. We were a party of 6 adults + a toddler [in a cot] and stayed for a week; the flat kitchen was exceptionally well equipped to meet our needs when we decided to eat in, and the bedrooms/sitting room were well appointed and tastefully decorated. The only minor drawback [which I know has been commented upon previously] is that the shower enclosure is extremely "cosy" .
