“Charming quiet place to stay in Edinburgh”
Reviewed 11 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

The mews is charming and the house is very comfortable. We walked home every afternoon for a quiet tea break before going out in the evening. A lovely quiet spot in busy Edinburgh.

“Lovely, quiet location; comfy, compact mews house.”
Reviewed 3 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

If you're looking for a quiet retreat from a bustling stay in Edinburgh, yet still be close enough to be able to walk everywhere, then seriously consider 31 Carlton Terrace Mews. Our three-night stay was blessed with fine weather, which helps, obviously, but knowing that we had the peace and quiet of No. 31 to go back to was a comfort.

Four adults was a squeeze, and it's probably better suited to a small family, but the two bathrooms kept queues at bay. The kitchen is small, but that's as advertised and no surprise. All in all, well worth a close look.

Best points: Being less than 15 minutes from the top of Calton Hill; being about 10 minutes away from the York Place tram stop. The calmness of the location.

Any negatives? I'd struggle to find anything bad to say, but if pushed, the two single beds squeaked quite noisily under the weight of adults.

Thank you, Andy - a very fair and accurate review. The house is small but mostly beautfully formed! Do come back! The single beds are traditional cast-iron but with memory foam mattresses. Sorry if they squeaked. Mary

“Excellent accommodation”
Reviewed 30 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We love this place, it is an excellent find. Wonderful clean, airy, well equipped apartment, everything you need to enjoy a relaxing Easter weekend away. Bedrooms spacious, beds very comfortable and ample space for clothes. Quiet and not too far from, local shops, attractions, or bus routes.
Love the welcoming touches, tea, coffee, milk, lovely spring flowers, bottle of wine.
Not too far to walk from Waverley train station.
If you have any problems, owners are easy to contact. Can't fault the place really apart from needing a larger more comfortable couch, so we can snuggle up when watching a good movie.
Can't wait to book for next Easter.

The problem is getting the big, snuggly couch up the teeny stairs, Carol! It's why I have had to go for a smaller one. Sorry! Do come again. Thank you for your kind review. Best. Mary

“What a great place !”
Reviewed 6 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

We headed to Edinburgh for New Year 2015 and booked No 31 and what a great result. Quirky charm and comfort in a super easy walk to edge of city centre location - the walk is importantly all on the level as well ! The property is lovely with everything to hand and is a little oasis amidst some also lovely much larger properties and a neighbourhood of real quality. 10 minutes stroll gets you to the city and couldn't be more convenient.
The only negative was parking which while solved by parking about 15 minutes walk away made it free - we would happily have paid more to have the benefit of a space nearby - don't know whether this is possible ? It does not though detract in any way from the overall quality and the fun we had and we don't hesitate to recommend and have a good idea we will return !
Many thanks Mary.

“Brilliant accommodation in an excellent location.”
Reviewed 22 December 2015 for a stay in December 2015

We had the best time in Edinburgh staying at the Carlton Mews. It was a lovely apartment in a location that was an easy walk to everywhere. We loved the Arthur's seat walk, old Edinburgh town, the Christmas markets and the Murrayfield Park ice skating rink! I would recommend a stay here to everyone.
