Lovely bar with fantastic food. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff, will certainly visit again. Has a good selection of beers and gins and prices are reasonable. The ribs and venison pie are highly recommend.

Myself and a colleague pulled up here completely on spec and how lucky were we.

An amazingly warm welcome awaited us with a lovely home cooked meal and a good choice of ales. Let’s not mention the 45 gins to chose from.

The staff were incredibly courteous and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

The room was very comfortable and everything was clean and fresh. Had a great nights sleep in a very comfortable bed.

I shall be coming back here to visit the area for pleasure and I know where I’ll be staying.

Great hotel.

This is a lovely little hotel on the Main Street in Moffat, we called in during the day for a drink and liked the look of he meals being served, so decided to have our evening meal here and wow ! Yes well worth it, the venison pie was by far the best I’ve ever had, ok it came with frozen chips but lots and lots of tender meat with a home cooked pastry ! Very good and real ales and quality wine at a reasonable price ! Well recommended

Stopped off for a meal on route to Inverness... We were offered a table in the upper dining room, it was clean and quiet which was perfect after a days travelling. the waiter was extremely helpful and was able to make recommendations, The food was very tasty especially the steak pie. the cost was very reasonable, we will be returning.
Thank you

On a week long self catering break in Moffat we frequented the Star Hotel for lunch most days. The food was excellent with a very varied menu - something to suit everyone from the main menu plus a board with Specials. The food was well presented and piping hot. The staff were very attentive and very friendly. I am not usually a Gin drinker but decided to sample some of their vast range of flavoured Gins - all of which were excellent. I would recommend this establishment to anyone passing through or stopping off in Moffat.

Room Tip: We did not stay in this Hotel so can’t comment on it
